Arnold Vosloo is Zartan in G.I. Joe

Looks like the “G.I. Joe” movie is revving up production big time, with the earlier announcement of Channing Tatum picking up the Duke character, and now IESB has news that “Joe” director Stephen Sommers has reached back into his “Mummy” days for the actor he wants to play Zartan: Arnold Vosloo, the Mummy himself.

More:

Zartan is a bit of a chameleon and can imitate anyone to an exact physical and vocal likeness. In the cartoon and comics his chameleon-like abilities were done through a mix of holograms, illusions and hypnosis.

Zartan is also fluent in twenty languages and dialects, a ventriloquist, an expert martial artist, master archer and the leader of the biker gang known as the Dreadnoks who also suffers from Paranoid Schizophrenia and Multiple Personality Disorder.

The other members of the Dreadnoks, Buzzer, Ripper, Monkeywrench, Zarana, Road Pig, Zanya, Zandar, Thrasher or Torch are not expected to make an appearance in the live action film.

Is it me, or is “G.I. Joe” getting pretty stuffed with big characters already? It feels like Sommers and company are intent on jamming every single character that ever appeared in the Joe mythos into the movie.

Is it wrong that all I want from my “G.I. Joe” movie are scenes of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow kicking ass?

The first movie has to set ground work… so its all snake eyes and storm shadow/ duke and cobra commander….. that’s fine… Zartan actually was on his own for a bit before he founded the Dreadnoks with Buzzer…..I’m hoping for a sequel that is the rise of the dreadnoks….. that way we can have a lot of them… instead of just a couple one liner heels like in the cartoon.

Plus the first movie’s done and I wasn’t cast as Ripper…. and I should be. hahahahaha

on a side note… anyone else seen a variant on the ripper figure… mine has a solid green shirt…not camo…. know its rare.. but how?….

I’m with NIX in saying I just want to see Snake Eyes VS Storm Shadow, Ninja VS Ninja throwing down! A little back story on those two would be cool too…all the other peeps can be saved for the sequels!!

I think Zartan needs his Dreadnok’s! They are the coolest part of the G.I.Joe experience. Let the “Noks” run wild! Cuz there ain’t no fun without them.
