Henry Hobson’s “Maggie” is being billed as a “genre-bending” movie, which basically means it’ll probably not be what you expect it to me. Which makes the casting of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the male lead really…odd. Arnold does one thing really well–blow shit up. When you put him in a zombie movie, audiences will be expecting him to fight, maim, decapitate, and, well, blow zombies up. But will they get that? Hmm…
I don’t know, considering the film’s premise (below) and these first looks at Arnold. I mean, come on, he’s not even armed! Not even a knife or a sickle or a baseball bat in sight! What’s going on here? So confused.
A Midwestern farmer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) stays by the side of his beloved teenage daughter (Abigail Breslin) even as she slowly turns into a cannibalistic zombie, in this audacious, genre-bending debut feature from director Henry Hobson.
Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Abigail Breslin, and Joely Richardson.
“Maggie” will rise at the Toronto International Film Festival this year.
