Jeon Ji-Hyun Sells Beer
Or maybe it’s tea. Or maybe some kind of lotion in a bottle. Not entirely sure, but what I am sure about is that Jeon Ji-Hyun is quite the hottie pitchwoman. Jeon hasn’t been doing a whole lot since her pan-Asian bomb “Daisy”, but here’s hoping that she can still break through the International market and hit it big time. Then again, maybe she should ditch this whole acting thing and go do modeling full time. She certainly has the chops for it.
Yukie Nakama
If you aren’t immediately captivated by Yukie Nakama’s smile or perfectly oval shaped face, then you’re not a warm blooded man. Yuki Nakama has been in movies like “Shinobi: Heart Under Blade” and “Trick 2″, and is an actress, musician, and former idol (i.e. she used to model Japanese calendars and “picture books”). Here are some modelling pictures from her idol days.
Gong Li in Taiwan
Is there any wonder they call Zhang Ziyi “Little Gong Li”? You put the two of them side by side and ask them to smile and you’ll think they were twins. In any case, here’s the beautiful Gong Li in Taiwan promoting her upcoming Chinese epic “Curse of the Golden Flower”. In the film, Gong re-teams with longtime collaborator Zhang Yimou for his third martial arts epic. I’m still a little shock that Yimou, known primarily for small Chinese dramas before “Hero”, keeps churning out these epics again and again.
“Bones’” Michaela Conlin
One reason to watch Fox’s hit show “Bones” is for Chinese-Irish actress Michaela Conlin, who plays Angela on the show. Okay, so the show isn’t all bad, either. It’s actually pretty damn good, with some great stories and character interactions. But where was I? Oh right, Michaela Conlin is also in it. And she’s quite cute.
Zhang Ziyi in iLook Magazine
Zhang Ziyi’s latest epic martial arts movie “The Banquet” seems to be doing well enough in Asia, but it’s looking doubtful that the movie will do as well in the International market. For one, it’s kind of a crappy movie, even if it does look absolutely fantastic, and I thought Zhang Ziyi’s performance was quite good. Still, the movie bored the crap out of me. Anyways, here’s Zhang Ziyi in iLook Magazine, which I’m assuming is a Chinese magazine by the Chinese writing. What’s the deal with the last picture, though?
Maggie Q.: Action Star?
Her break-through role in “Mission Impossible 3″ may have put Maggie Q. on the map in Hollywoodland, but it might also have stereotyped her in action roles. Take her upcoming role in the latest “Die Hard” sequel, and this photoshoot, which protrays Maggie Q. in a variety of “action” poses. Now granted, these action poses are also highly artsy fartsy and fashion-minded, but you get my point. She still looks hot, though.
Michelle Yeoh at the “Casino Royale” Premiere
Former Bond girl Michelle Yeoh (she was in “The World is Not Enough” with Pierce Brosnan) at the premiere of the new James Bond movie, “Casino Royale”, which stars the latest Brit to take over the 007 mantle, Daniel Craig. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but Craig looks like a pretty decent Bond. Plus, he’s got that raw, gritty feel about him that Pierce Brosnan never had. In fact, I always thought Brosnan’s Bond was a little too gay-ish.
Gong Li at the “Curse of the Golden Flower” Premiere
Mainland Chinese superstar, and recent Hollywood movie star Gong Li at the AFI premiere of her new big-budget Chinese epic, “Curse of the Golden Flower”. What’s it about? “The ill-fated romance between an imperial bodyguard and a prince takes the lovers on a dangerous journey where royal family secrets are revealed.” The film co-stars fellow Chinese superstars Chow Yun Fat and Jay Chou of “Initial D”, and is directed by Yimou Zhang, who also did “Hero” and “House of Flying Daggers”, so you know it’s going to look great and be spectacular.
Maggie Q. Joins “The Tourist” Cast
Man, I’m glad to see Maggie Q. getting her due in Hollywood. After the kinda failure of “Mission Impossible 3″ at the box office, I was a little worried she wouldn’t get anymore chance at the Hollywood brass ring, but I’m glad I was wrong. Here’s new that Maggie Q. isn’t just going to be in the latest “Die Hard” movie, but she’s also been cast alongside Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor in “The Tourist”. The film, described as a sexual thriller, “is about an accountant (McGregor) introduced to a mysterious sex club by his lawyer friend (Jackman). He soon becomes the prime suspect in a woman’s disappearance,” according to Variety.
Kelly Hu Hotness Overload
Quite possibly some of the most gorgeous pictures of actress Kelly Hu I have come across. And no, she’s not even naked. Well, actually, she’s topless in a couple of photos, but nothing is showing. And you know what? That makes it even more sexy. Plus, there are a lot of really great close-up shots of Kelly Hu’s lovely face. That smile of hers is captivating, indeed. You can never get too much of Kelly Hu.
Ming Na at the One Community, One Cause Event
Ming Na is currently starring in FOX’s “Vanished”, but to be honest with you, I don’t know how long that’s going to last. The show never looked that good to me from the beginning; it seems so generic and kind of by-the-numbers lame. Anyways, even if the show does get cancelled, I’m sure Ming Na will find work elsewhere, what with her hefty resume and all. Here’s Ming Na at the One Community, One Cause Event sponsored by Myspace.com.
“Raines’” Linda Park
Post-”Enterprise”, there hasn’t been a new “Star Trek” show on TV since. Luckily for one of its stars, Linda Park has landed another show on NBC called “Raines”, starring, of all people, Jeff Goldblum. Yes, that wacky Jeff Goldblum. Linda’s character is named Sally Lance, a Police Detective. Going by the name, it sounds like her character won’t be ethnic-specific, which is good, because I’m so tired of Hollywood casting Koreans as Japanese and vice versa. Can’t they all just be actors? Anyways, here’s Linda at the NBC Summer 2006 TCA Party from a few months ago. Catch “Raines” when it airs on NBC.
Grace Park at the SpikeTV Scream Awards
Basic cable channel SpikeTV will be premiering its “Scream Awards” show tomorrow, where you can catch an eclectic group of babes, including “Battlestar Galactica’s” Grace Park, in attendance. No idea if Grace won anything, or if she was even nominated, or even what the heck the Scream Awards is for (I’m assuming…horror?), but here are some pictures of Grace at the event. I could do without the funky hat, but that midriff bearing shirt is nice.
Kelly Hu at the EW Photo Party
Hawaiian actress Kelly Hu attending the Entertainment Weekly Photo Issue Party. I’m assuming the “Photo Issue” is an issue of EW dedicated to photos, which is kind of odd as the magazine is loaded with pictures already. I mean, you don’t give people who reads about celebrities a lot of words; they love pictures. But I digress. Kelly needs to stay away from these parties and do a movie already. I haven’t seen her on the big screen in ages.
Grey Anatomy’s Sandra Oh
Korean actress Sandra Oh has been in some pretty good movies (”Sideways”) and TV shows (”Arli$$”) — okay, maybe not “Arli$$” — but it was ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” that made her famous, in which she plays Dr. Cristina Yang that catapulted her into superstardom. Good for her. Here’s Sandra Oh in Instyle Magazine.
Yunjin Kim at the “Lost” Season 3 Premiere
American-Korean actress Yunjin Kim at the “Lost” Season 3 premiere. I know what you’re thinking, “What, they have premieres for TV shows nowadays?” Apparently yes. This one was probably held in Hawaii (where the TV show is shot), but don’t hold me to it, I’m just guessing by all the sand and, well, the beach setting where they’re holding the premiere. In any case, Yunjin Kim looks nice, if just a tad too thin…
Lucy Liu Saturday Night Live Promos
I’m not sure when these pictures are from, but they are of “Kill Bill” star Lucy Liu doing some “Saturday Night Live” promotional photoshoot. These really are nothing special, but I just like posting new pictures of the lovely Lucy Liu. There’s not enough Asian actresses who gets treated like she’s just another actress, and not an Asian actress, and Lucy is one of those people.
Maggie Q. is Red Hot
Hawaiian/Vietnamese/American Actress Maggie Q. has the distinction of being extremely tall, hot, and at the same time, flat-chested. Basically, she has what amounts to mesquito bumps where her breasts should be. Mind you, not that that’s a particularly bad thing, especially when she’s, well, pretty hot in just about every other respects. Check her out in “Mission: Impossible 3″, her big American break, if you haven’t already. She has a supporting role, but damn is she fine. It’s too bad “MI3″ wasn’t as big a hit as everyone expected it to be; Maggie’s career would have blown up if it had been.
Brenda Song is Suite in Pink
Brenda Song, co-star of the Disney show “The Suite Life of Zach and Cody” and the made-for-Disney movie “Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior”, caught outside in a pink dress ensemble. In the show “Suite Life” Song plays a spoiled rich girl patterned after Paris Hilton named London. No, really. Mind you, not that I ever watched the show, but I sometimes stumble across it. Yeah, that’s the ticket…
Kristin Kreuk “Smallville” Season 6 Promos
A number of promotional images of Kristin Kreuk for the sixth season of the popular Superman show “Smallville”. I’ve seen a couple of episodes, and I think it’s a good show, but I probably wouldn’t have seen them on purpose. Then again, my taste in TV is openly questionable, so who knows, I might be missing out on something pretty great. Maybe.
