The Man with the Iron Fists (2012) Movie Poster

To be honest, until yesterday I had forgotten all about RZA’s directorial debut—a kung-fu actioner called “The Man With the Iron Fists”. But that first picture that the rapper/producer/actor/director tweeted yesterday brought it all back with a vengeance. Now there’s a badass new poster new poster to tide us over until the trailer shows up tomorrow. It’s all happening so fast.

The cast of “The Man With the Iron Fists” is solid. Between the inclusion of Russell Crowe, who has a penchant for punching people in the face, and RZA’s love of martial arts films, I figure this will be one hell of a flick. Add Pam Grier, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Rick Yune, David Bautista, Gordon Liu, Grace Huang, Jamie Cheung, and the RZA himself, and you have my full attention.

[T]he film centers on a blacksmith (RZA) in feudal China who makes weapons for a small village. He is put in the position where he must defend himself and his fellow villagers.

Are you excited for “The Man With the Iron Fists”? Thoughts on this poster? I think it looks great, a beautiful blend of style and straight up genre flair.

I have high hopes for this

You and me both. Who’s doing the fight coreography? Hoping Yuen Woo Ping, or someone like Donnie Yen, or Sammo Hung. THAT would be too fly! I can’t wait for this insane genere flick that willl sit right next to “Warrior’s Way”

I bet it’s Cung Le or RZA doing the choreography.

        • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Why do you say that? I really have a feeling Rza went big for this if he’s starring. and Cung le may be an MMa star but he’s no fight coreograher. And Rza may have some skill (not sure if he has trained in martial arts actually) but again not enough for that.

            I think multiple reason.

            1) because RZA likes a certain type of kung fu movie. The old school Shaw Bros, with Alexander Fu Shen and Gordon Liu. Alexander died a long time ago in a car accident. Gordon Liu is having a renaissance right now. He might do it.
            2) any of the 3 you mentioned up there, it would be plastered on the poster. “With fight choreography by NAME HERE”.

Corey Yuen is doing the choreography

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Ah yes the other Yuen I was thinking of but couldn’t rem, ember. I’m good now!

          • http://www.grifiti.com Tin Hoang

He’s pretty good. should be good, especially if the traditional hollywood actors can get the wire work down. As good as the Matrix was, keanu and the others sometimes looked very awkward.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Agreed.I actually thought Fishburne looked the best. The training scene and the fight on the truck was bad ass!!!

          • http://www.grifiti.com Tin Hoang

He was surprisingly good, given his size and all.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Not really, it’s an early poster hence “Coming Soon” There are no producer credits on there other than Tarantino.

          • http://www.grifiti.com Tin Hoang

Yea, but any of those 3 guys you mentioned are a big selling point to the movie, producers, not so much.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

That depends on who’s producing. Like when Tim Burton produces a film but doesn';t direct. Why do you think Tarantino’s name is at the top. And Eli is probably producing as well but he’s already got a director credit. Cory Yuen is also a name as well, seeing as how he’s done a few Hollywood flicks too.

          • http://www.grifiti.com Tin Hoang

That’s very true. But in a martial arts movie, the fight choreographer is the big star. Cory Yuen, though not as big as the 3 you mentioned, he’s probably next on that list.

The wachowski brothers have put their name on a couple of duds, haven’t they?

  • http://www.grifiti.com Tin Hoang

what release date are we looking at? sometime this year?

    • Marc Ohhhh

      Fall/Late 2012

      • http://www.grifiti.com Tin Hoang

that’s not too far away. Hope it’ll be better than warrior’s way.

        • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

I like Warrior’s Way. It definitely could’ve been better but I did enjoy it alot…see man now I gotta go buy that.

          • http://www.grifiti.com Tin Hoang

i liked Warrior’s Way as well. It had too many problems, especially in the middle, so I think it wasn’t going to have much of a chance to do well in the theaters.

Here’s to hoping the director’s next outing will be better.
