Badass Trailer for Shaun Piccinino’s Martial Arts Actioner The Lackey

I’m really digging these stripped down, back-to-basics action flicks that have been coming out of the indie scene over the past few years. There’s a lot of undiscovered talent rattling around out there, and, thankfully, these individuals are starting to make their own movies. Director Shaun Piccinino has kind enough to send over the trailer for his mixed martial arts actioner “The Lackey”, another low-budget endeavor that has the potential to kick your dirty teeth down your nasty little throat. The film has a go-for-broke feel about it, which is what every action flick should strive for. I also helps that I enjoy watching people beat the crap out of one another.

Have a quick look at the official synopsis:

In this Guy Ritchie-like action flick, JUDE ST. CLERE discovers he has a daughter by his junkie ex-girlfriend. He vows to take care of her and leave his shadowed past behind him. Completely broke and with his daughter starving, he reluctantly takes on one last job which quickly entwines him dead smack in the middle of a bloody mob war. Knowing that his chances of making it out alive are slim, he plunges in guns blazing – because sometimes the only way out is to go all in.

Counted amongst the cast are Shaun Piccinino, Rickey Bird, Orlando McGuire, David Pires, Guy A. Grundy, Jeremy Dunn, Sonny Sison, DT Carney, and “Circuitry Man” himself, Vernon Wells. His participation alone guarantees a viewing in my house. “The Lackey” is on its way to the Cannes Film Market, so here’s hoping this one gets a proper release sometime soon. While we’re waiting, have a look at the trailer embedded below.

Author: Todd Rigney

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.
