I think what makes the film fail, sadly, is that during the last half hour it loses the plot and becomes a story about posttraumatic stress disorder, which doesn't really have anything to do with the premise (the PTSD should have manifested itself much sooner anyway). What's even worse is that this sudden change in direction also dictates the bizarre ending and thus irreversibly derails the story. At the very last moment (literally) the film sort of wakes up, tries to remember where it is and scrambles to get back on point, but by then it's too late. I found the ending to be extremely unsatisfying. It's really a shame, and Soo-yeon did such a great job too.

Spoilers somewhat: I don't know if anyone else noticed or agrees with me, but the cop who initially takes Eun-young's statement turns out to be the most standup guy in the film. He does act like a misogynistic asshole, sure, but he still does his job and doesn't start obsessing over her like everyone else.
