Beyonce Wants to be Wonder Woman
Comic Book Movie News, Wonder Woman Movie — By Nix on November 10, 2008
Here’s how it works in Hollywood: if you want a movie role, especially a high-profile one, you need to tell people you want the damn role. Often. As in, whenever you get the chance. Once your interest is floated into the public consciousness, the studio will be able to gauge the reaction of the public to the news, and maybe you’ll get your wish. That seems to be what singer Beyonce is doing with the Wonder Woman movie, namely letting people know that she wants to wear the tiara and fling the truth-telling lasso around the place. Of course, Warner Bros. doesn’t seem to be any closer to getting a Wonder Woman movie made, so maybe the point is moot.
Here’s what Beyonce told the LA Times:
“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?
After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero,’” BeyoncĂ© told me this week when I met her for an interview in a suite atop the Rivington Hotel in New York. “Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy.”
The thing about Beyonce? Everyone who has met her says she’s a great dame. I mean, a really, really great person, with a tremendous personality, and no doubt, a great voice. But acting wise … well, look, she’s like Jessica Alba: girl is hot, and you could put her in any number of outfits, but it just ain’t there. I’m sorry, but the girl can’t act. Then again, the last person associated with the role was Megan Fox, and her acting is a bit suspect, as well.
And unlike that horrible, horrible rumor of Will Smith playing Captain America? The black-white issue here is no issue at all. See below.

That would just be the wrost.
She can’t act but at least she would look good in the outfit. LOL
It’s not an issue, because why, she’s hot? Lord knows she is, but Wonder Woman isn’t black. What if they cast a white actor as Blade? Or Luke Cage? Or the Black Panther? Or a white actress as Storm? That ain’t right either…
I’m inclined to agree with the guy above me. Wonder Woman is a white character. Wonder Woman has pretty much been established as white. It’d be like turning Superman mexican or Batman chinese. The old school fans of the series are not going to buy into it. New fans might though.
