I don’t know who cut this latest trailer for director John Hyams’ “Universal Soldier” movie together (his second in the serires), but it’s a pretty unique approach. Hell, the whole thing looks more like the trailer for a slick horror movie than for the fourth installment of a silly action/martial arts franchise. There’s lots of blood in here, folks, though I wouldn’t go so far as slap it with a Red Band designation. I’m also totally digging the whole ridiculous close-quarter gunplay. Check it out, check it outers.

John (Adkins, The Expendables 2) wakes up from a coma after his wife and daughter were slaughtered in a brutal home invasion. Haunted by images of the attack, he vows to kill the man responsible, Luc Deveraux (Van Damme). While John tries to piece his reality back together, things get more complicated when he is pursued by a relentless UniSol (Arlovski). As John gets closer to Deveraux and the rouge army of genetically enhanced warriors led by back-from-the-dead leader Andrew Scott (Lundgren), John discovers more about himself and begins to call into question everything he believed to be true.

Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins, Andrei “The Pit Bull” Arlovski and Dolph Lundgren.

“Day of Reckoning” arrives on On Demand October 25th and in theaters November 30th.

Director John Hyams cut this trailer him self to show his true vision of this movie. He wasn’t pleased with previous trailer made by distributors because they show movie as silly action flick, and Hyams says that US:DOR is not that at all…

I didn’t see the previous trailer, but from someone who has never liked van Damme, this looks pretty damn good. At least people look like they are getting hit. Hopefully van Damme does not do a split or that high kick that he holds and slowly moves to the side, this movie is a winna!

This looks sweet! Definitely looks to be an improvement over the last one at least.
