Dennis Quaid doesn’t play many villain roles (unless, of course, you consider his Reverend in the “Footloose” remake a villain), so it’s always cool when he goes a little unhinged in a movie. He does just that in Martin Guigui’s “Beneath the Darkness”, and the only person who can stop him is the girl from “Friday Night Lights”. And, er, some other kids in town. Ain’t that always the case, though? The teens will save us! “Beneath the Darkness” is currently available on DVD and Blu-ray from Image Entertainment, but why buy it when you can win a copy of the film on Blu-ray for free? We have three copies of “Beneath the Darkness” on Blu-ray to give away to 3 lucky winners. Head on below for details.
In BENEATH THE DARKNESS, Ely Vaughn (Dennis Quaid) is a pillar of the community in tiny Smithville, Texas. The town’s mortician, Ely has been revered since his days as the high school’s star quarterback. Since the tragic death of his wife two years earlier, Ely has withdrawn from his neighbors, while local teens spread stories of supernatural goings on at Ely’s mansion—which is also the funeral home. When high school friends Travis (Tony Oller), Abby (Aimee Teegarden), Brian (Stephen Lunsford) and Danny (Devon Werkheiser) decide to check out the rumors, they are shocked to see the supposedly grieving widower dancing with a mysterious woman behind the curtains of his bedroom window. Their curiosity aroused, the four teens wait for Ely to leave the house before breaking in to investigate.
But instead of finding clues to the woman’s identity, they stumble on a grotesque, long-hidden secret. The sadistic mortician next door will now stop at nothing to literally bury his past.
