Bond 23 Adds Peter Morgan to Writing Stable

What? They’re making a Bond 23? I’m shocked, I tell you, shocked! Just kidding. So, yeah, plans for a Bond 23 are already underway, as they must be for there are only three things that are certain in this world: death, taxes, and Bond movies. So where will Bond be hopping along to in this twenty-third outing? No one seems to know yet, but it’ll be up to writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who will now be getting assist from “The Queen” and “The Last King of Scotland” writer Peter Morgan.

The word comes from CHUD, who calls the news “exciting” and “refreshing”. I haven’t seen any of Morgan’s movies, but then again, I don’t get out all that often. The sun still comes up in the day and goes down at night, right?

Anyhoo. After the Jason Bourne-ish direction the franchise has taken with the distinctively un-Bond-like “Quantum of Solace”, it’ll be interesting to see where the producers take this latest installment. Are they going to continue Bond’s transformation into Bourne, or go back to a more Bond-like feel? I personally prefer the suave secret agent to the grungy, gritty, shoot-first-and-never-mind-the-quips Bond of “Solace”. Call me crazy, but Bond should be Bond, not a Bourne wannabe.
