MGM Puts Bond 23 on Ice Indefinitely

Just posted some Bond 23 tidbits this morning, but maybe it’s all moot. At least, for the next year or so. Reuters reports that the still-untitled Bond 23 movie set to be directed by Sam Mendes has been “delayed indefinitely due to ‘uncertainty'” stemming from the current in flux state of MGM, where the franchise currently calls home.

Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the producers of James Bond, said in a joint statement:

“Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on BOND 23 indefinitely.”

The film was originally scheduled for 2011 or 2012, but at this point even 2012 may seem a tad optimistic.
