Boring-sounding Political Thriller Picked Up By Summit

Sean Penn is shamed by Naomi Watts' accusatory stare in Doug Liman's Fair GameJust when you thought you had put Bush and Cheney behind you, voodoo necromancer Doug Liman zombifies one of their biggest scandals in “Fair Game”, a story about outed U.S. spy Valerie Plame.

Yahoo is reporting that Doug Liman–the dude behind the kick-ass “Swingers”, “Go”, and “The Bourne Identity” who later sucked the big one with “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Jumper”–had his latest picked up by Summit Entertainment.

Starring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts, the film is based on the memoir written by undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson and her husband Joseph Wilson’s book, “Politics of Truth.” Jez Butterworth and John Butterworth wrote the screenplay.

Screenplay by Butterworth, story by Aunt Jemima.

What do you think? Will the Valerie Plame snafu make for a riveting political thriller? Or will this be Bombgate?
