Brad Pitt as Thor: What Do You Think?

Comic Book Movie News, Featured, Thor (2011) Movie — By Nix on May 14, 2008

Forget for one moment that Marvel’s announced “Thor” movie no longer has a director, or even a star except a rumor about Brad Pitt being offered the role. What it does have is a sorta finished script by Mark Protosevic (“I am Legend”). Now forget all that stuff, and just concentrate on this question: Rumor has Marvel pursuing Brad Pitt to play the role of the Asgardian God of Thunder, Thor. What do you think about this potential casting?

For it, against it, don’t care?

And if not Brad Pitt as Thor, then who?

HOW ABOUT THE ACTOR JAMES PRESTON ROGERS…. CHECK HIM OUT ON FACEBOOK, OR MYSPACE, OR IMDB.COM

HE STANDS over 6′5 250lbs… complety jacked and cut long blonde natural blonde hair, blue eyes….

HE TOWERS OVER HHH and makes him look like a short kid on steriods with a wig on…. haha no offense HHH but JPR can act, do his own stunts, and is much more of an actor then the sterotype big macho WWE wrestler

      JAMES PRESTON ROGERS FOR THOR!!!!!!!

  • Sneak says:

I think HHH would a great Thor he has the size and the long hair, he would be the best choice.

I think Thomas Jane would make a good Thor.

    • eric says:

Jane played a great punisher but the only reasoning i could even begin to imagine you’d have for suggesting him is that he’s a good actor, he has no other thor-like traits. Brad Pitt would be amazing as thor.

Nice choice but far too expensive. Better use a Nobody or Karl Urban (pathfinder), at least the studio can afford to keep him under contract for 2 or more sequels and an Avenger-movie.

Since I saw this I have been thinking of actors to play the role. The first actor I thought would be Sean Bean, the actor who played Boromir in the lord of the rings. Another choice would be the actor who played Boromir’s brother. His role in “300″ identified himself as a strong bid for a role of such a level. I as well thought Paul Levesque, HHH, was a good choice. One of the three I believe would be the best physical fit for Thor, Sean Bean being #1. Brad Pitt is expensive and would be a better fit for a smaller Marvel Superhero.

I AGREE SEAN BEAN WOULD MAKE A PERFECT THOR. HE HAS THE LOOKS FOR THIS ROLE. BRAD PITT WOULD BE BETTER OFF BEING CAPTAIN AMERICAN, IT IS FOR BELIEVABLE. ARE YOU NUTS PEOPLE TRIPPLE H, WE NEED REAL ACTORS OR THIS MOVIE WILL BE A FLOP.

Do not get a wrestler to play the awesome and powerful Thor. We all know that wrestlers are definitely in good shape, but lack the acting abilities it would take to play such an internally conflicted superhero as Thor. I mean, even Dwayne “the rock” Johnson is a mediocre actor at his best, and he has gotten out of wrestling for quite some time. To have a wrestler’s first movie be Thor would inevitably piss off a sizeable portion of the target audience. Brad Pitt has good acting abilities to be sure, but I believe he showed us in the movie “Achilles” that:
    A)he doesn’t make a great mythical hero.
B)he is far to much of a pretty boy to play the gruff, battle-hardened part of “Thor”.
C)he is not built like the mythical Norse god of Thunder (marvel or otherwise.

Don’t get me wrong, Pitt is a strong actor. In my opinion though, you should find a new guy… slightly (if not completely) unknown… and hell, go to Norway to find him.

Maybe you should do a little research before you make uneducated assumptions like HHH’s “first movie” think again bonehead look at his credentials.

  • steve-o says:

Triple H would make a perfect thor

  • Whitterhok says:

If you consider that Marvel has Thor as being 6′6″ and 640lbs, I doubt Brad Pitt could pull that off. An actor who’s 6′6″ and built like Thor should weigh in the 300lbs range.
If an alter-ego is involved then Pitt could fit that part, but the cost could be prohibitive.

Are you people nuts. Pick the guy who played Sabertooth in X-Men. He has the look and size of Thor. Also my pick for Captain America would be Neal McDonough

    • Steve says:

I totally agree with you on that one. I think Newal McDonough fits the role so perfectly. also the guy who played sabertooth would be perfect to.

  • Melyssa says:

I posted this in a different area, but i will post it here again.

I think Viggo Mortensen would make a great Thor. He has the power in his face and he’s such a versatile actor. Or even Daniel Craig with his stone blue eyes. Ahh a younger actor Hayden Christensen could even pull it off. But any of these guys would need some serious hard training to get into shape for the look of Thor…steroids even jk jk.
And lastly Martin Henderson. Hopefully anyone making this movie takes these into consideration on there search for Thor.
