Brad Pitt Joins Darren Aronofsky’s The Fighter

Coming Soon has learned that Mr. Angelina Jolie is currently in negotiations to join the cast of Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming boxing movie “The Fighter”, which already has Mark Wahlberg set to star. The film, about Irish boxer Mickey Ward and his unlikely path to become world lightweight champion, to be played by Wahlberg. Pitt would play Dicky Eklund, Mickey’s half-brother and a talented fighter who once went the distance with Sugar Ray Leonard in a title fight, but then turned to crime and landed in prison. Then he turned his life around and helped his underperforming brother find the spark for a remarkable run that led to the world title.

You may or may not remember, but Pitt has played two boxers in his career — in Guy Ritchie’s “Snatch” and in “Fight Club”. Okay, so maybe Tyler Durden wasn’t really a boxer, but he did fight often enough, so technically he was some kind of fighter/boxer.

If all goes well, Aronofsky will be working off a script by Scott Silver.
