What? Another comic book no one has ever heard of is getting adapted into a big-screen, live-action movie? Oh Hollywood, what will you think of next — American remakes of Japanese cartoons? But I digress. The latest stash from Hollywood’s comic book raiding has produced a live-action version of Paul Pope’s “Battling Boy”, which Brad Pitt’s Plan B and Paramount Pictures have handed over to “Watchmen” writer Alex Tse to adapt for them.

“Battling Boy” is written and drawn by Paul Pope (“Batman: Year 100″), and according to THR, follows the son of a god who comes down from the top of a mountain at his father’s urging to rid the giant, continent-sized city of Monstropolis of a plague of beasts. Reminds me of when I was a kid, except I was supposed to purge my attic of cockroaches, and they weren’t really much of a challenge. Same deal.

Besides “Battling Boy”, writer Alex Tse is a wanted man. Post-”Watchmen”, the scribe is currently working on a live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime “Ninja Scroll” for Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way and “The Illustrated Man” (based on the Ray Bradbury story) for Zack Snyder. And then there’s “Frankie Machine” for Paramount, who has Michael Mann waiting in the wings to helm.
