Bradley Cooper is an American Sniper

American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History Book CoverHollywood’s current run on all-things Navy SEALs-related continues, with Bradley Cooper acquiring the film rights to the non-fiction book “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History” by Chris Kyle. Cooper will produce and develop the film as a starring vehicle with Warner Bros.

The film, like the book, would star Cooper as Kyle, a Texas native who became a SEAL sniper, and eventually the American military sniper with the most recorded kills on record. The book also includes passages from Kyle’s wife, who talks about her husband’s gradual withdrawal from her and their family and more towards the SEALs and war.

Jason Dean Hall will adapt the book for Cooper, who has set up a shingle over at Warner Bros, making “American Sniper” his first project. A-list actors getting their own offices on Hollywood studio lots is nothing new. Whether they actually do anything with it, on the other hand, is the real question. Most end up with a couple of movies under their belt as a producer, but most never really stick it out.

This wouldn’t be the first time Cooper has suited up in Army fatigues. He played a pretty convincing Special Forces badass in “The A-Team”, as you’ll recall.
