The people of “Veronica Mars” did it, Zach Braff just did it, too, and others want to do it (but aren’t having much luck), but leave it to “The Mummy” star Brendan Fraser to really take the whole movie crowdfunding fad to new heights.
Plus, it’s not like he’s doing anything with those shirts sitting in his closet. Mind as well give them out as prizes, right?
Okay, so this is just one of those Onion parodies, but it does have kind of a ring of truth to it. All of these rich actors going on Kickstarter to ask for your money to make their movie is getting kind of ridiculous, don’t you think? Then again, I suppose if people want to “kick in” their hard-earned cash to see a movie (or some other project) get made, who am I to tell them they can’t?
Here’s Brendan Fraser on why you should give him money to make a movie. He promises it will be a cool movie. A fun movie, even. Yeah, but will it be nearly as fun as “George of the Jungle” or “Furry Vengeance”? If it is, I’d like to see it!*
