Brett Ratner Confirms God of War Movie
God of War (2010) Movie — By Nix on October 1, 2008
Now I don’t know if Brett Ratner is dreaming of becoming the next Uwe Boll or what, but as far as I can tell, he’s made mention that he wants to direct two movies based on videogames — “God of War” and “Guitar Hero”. When the whole “God of War” rumor surfaced a while back, it was just a rumor. Now, er, not so much. Brett Ratner has confirmed that he will, indeed, be directing a movie version of the game “God of War”, which as far as I can tell, is about some tattoo dude who, like, beats people up in Ancient Rome. Or something. Unsurprisingly, I’ve never played the game. Can you tell?
Says UGO (rather snarkily, I might add):
We caught up with him recently and confirmed either your greatest dream or biggest fear: Brett Ratner is indeed making a movie based on the video game series, God of War. Honestly, I love the Kratos games, however, they aren’t exactly the deepest when it comes to story, so he might just be the right person to handle the film adaptation.
You can see Brett Ratner talking to UGO about waiting for the script for “God of War” to be approved so he can start shooting here.
Meanwhile, here’s a little about what the game is all about:
Unleash the power of the Gods and embark on a merciless quest as Kratos, an ex-Spartan warrior driven to destroy Ares, the God of War. Armed with lethal double chainblades, Kratos must carve through mythology’s darkest creatures – including Medusa, Cyclops, the Hydra and more, while solving intricate puzzles in breathtaking environments. Driven by pure revenge, nothing can stop Kratos from achieving absolution.
The game has already spawn a sequel, the imaginatively titled “God of War 2″.

djimon honshou FTW!
I Love the game it is the number one game in the hole universe, but i want you to make it like kids can see at like don’t put any of the Nudity.
man kids are not allowed to see any tits on movies but blowing up heads is fine wtf?
Whoever is cast to play Kratos, shoud look as much like him as possible. No Jake Gillenhalls or any crap like that- I mean have u seen that guy in the Prince of Persia pics out there- it looks like a joke! The actor to play Kratos needs to be a huge mean- no nonsense type of guy. Let’s get real Kratos is no debater and speach giver! It doesn’t matter if he has an award winning smile, he just needs to be a bad dude. This might even be best captured in the same fashion that the Bowulf flick was done, so it can be digitally enhanced and animated to enhance and change features, and scenery. God of war is a huge sage type of movie, it may get muddied p with alot of big name type actors. I hope we can just get the basic monsters and chain flying sword action with plenty of heads rollin. That’s what it’s all about!
Vin diesel hands down. pain him white with the red stripe tattoo and he’d look exactly like Kratos, plus with his starpower, critics would be forced to take the movie seriously. They may try to be negative about the film, but Vin has the unquestionable credability to pull it off and make it the blockbuster the film deserves to be.
Nathan Jones would be a perfect Kratos. He played Boagrius in the movie Troy.I have thought of him as Kratos since GOW2 first came out.I can’t wait to see a GOW movie!!!!!
I think both, god of war 1and 2 are the best game ever been made in the world.Brad pit will be the best actor for Kratos.
It will be awesome to see a GOW movie.

I agree with Kevin G. The Jake as prince isn’t really working. Casting should look like the character. body type and everything. They should be required to shave their head bald…thats how serious it should be.
hell yeah u just need a beasty bold pale guy
hell yeah i love GOW and i’m seeing that movie the first day it comes out
