Brian Vaughan’s Roundtable Sounds Like a Bang Up Good Time
Roundtable (2010) Movie — By Nix on June 5, 2008
Brian K. Vaughan is a wanted man in Hollywood these days. The comic book writer/TV writer/producer has “Y: The Last Man”, “Runaways”, and “Ex-Machina” all currently in development at various locales around town, and he’s just sold his spec script “Roundtable” to Dreamworks. The idea for the movie which sounds like one of those that could be really, really good or really, really campy. I’m leaning toward the former, mostly because I hate to think a movie that sounds this cool will turn out badly. Call me an optimist.
So what is “Roundtable” about? Variety has no idea, but leave it to Slashfilm to clue them, and us, in:
The story for Roundtable revolves around “Merlin assembling a bunch of modern-day knights to battle a resurrected ancient evil, only to discover that today’s knights are all washed-up athletes, cowardly scientists or Academy Award-winning actors.” Apparently it’s an update to the classic King Arthur legend, described as more Ghostbusters than Excalibur.
Tell me that doesn’t sound like fun times, and I’ll call you dry and boring.
Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing the movie for Dreamworks.
