Ah, so now it all makes sense.
As you’ll recall, yesterday Sylvester Stallone tweeted the addition of Harrison Ford to the cast of “The Expendables 3″, while also tweeting that Bruce Willis was “out”. He then followed up that announcement with this very rather interesting tweet:
GREEDY AND LAZY …… A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE
— Sylvester Stallone (@TheSlyStallone) August 6, 2013
Most people naturally assumed that the above tweet was aimed squarely at Willis, and as it turns out, most people would be right.
A source “close to the production” of the upcoming sequel (Stallone himself, perhaps?) recently told THR the inside story. Apparently Willis and Stallone clashed over Willis’ fee for the movie. Namely, Willis wanted a cool $1 million a day to reprise his role from the first two movies, and since he was scheduled to shoot for 4 straight days, that would mean a $4 million dollar pay day … for four days of work.
As my guidance counselor would say, beats digging ditches, I guess.
Stallone, of course, balked, and 3 days after that dust up, replaced Willis with Harrison Ford.
I guess there will be no Planet Hollywood reunion for this two. I wonder how the third wheel in the Planet Hollywood triumvirate feels about this little splat. Then again, Arnold Schwarzenegger has always been a rather shrewd businessman, so I’m guessing he’ll side with Stallone and keep his “Expendables 3″ gig. I’m assuming, of course, that he returns for the third movie…
