If Gareth Evans uses his 2011 action master’s class “The Raid: Redemption” as a road map, the sequel, “The Raid 2: Berandal,” should be absolutely bananas. Filming now, we’ve got this bloody, brutal looking new image to share with you.
That’s a promising start, a gore-soaked gentleman, weapon in hand, dragging his broken body across the floor. He looks like he’s having a rather crappy day. It’s hard to tell if he’s a bad guy and deserves his beating, as Evans and company are fond of putting everyone, heroes and villains alike, through rough times.
Here’s a synopsis:
Picking up right where the first film ends, “The Raid 2” follows Rama ([Iko] Uwais) as he goes undercover and infiltrates the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.
The idea is to take the action of the first movie, and take it out of the building, out of that contained environment, and letting it run wild. We’ll get a wider look at the criminal underworld of Indonesia, and the fact that the action of “The Raid 2” starts literally two hours after the close of the first film, should add up to one terrible day for Rama. That sounds like a damn fine time to me.
“The Raid 2: Berandal” is filming now, and you can bet your ass we’ll be keeping an eye out for news regarding this one.
