Bryan Singer Swears Off Leather Suits for X-Men: First Class Sequel

Bryan Singer, the freshly designated director of Fox’s upcoming “X-Men: First Class” sequel (now that Vaughn has decided he’d rather be doing something else — either “The Secret Service” with Mark Millar or “Star Wars: Episode 7″, depending on who you believe — has gone on record that “X-Men: Days of Future Past” will not feature his X-Men characters running around in the “leather suits” that were made (in)famous in his two “X-Men” movies (and continued on in Brett Ratner’s “X-Men: Last Stand”).

Here’s what the director recently tweeted:

Funny thing is, I always thought the guys in “X-Men: First Class” had leather suits on, but looking back on it, I guess they really weren’t. At the end there, when they were all wearing the same themed get-up, it might have looked leather suit-ish, but I guess they weren’t, were they?

    glad the leather’s gone. I design bags and sleeves for laptops – there are lots of cool textured PU and PVC materials that could be made into skin tight suits.

    A lot of people hated the leather. I for one thought it worked. They shouldn’t be featured in the next film but I didn’t hate them in the first three films. I liked the costumes from ‘First Class’. Hopefully they continue with those outfits. I’d even like them to go a bit further and make them like the comic versions.

      i thought the leather costumes were fine as well. but they could definitely be a lot sexier if they moved to something new.

      I actually liket the leather suits. Especially since the alternative at the time would’ve looked gaudy. This was before “Ultimates” came along and showed how real world costumes could be made, and influenced Avengers, Iron man, Thor, etc. Watchmen also did well. FF suits were decent as well. Loved the firt class uniforms. That said i’d love for them to get cotsumes closer to the comics but still look real. and not corny.

        I thought that the FF suits were really well done. The texture, color and overall look were really good. A mix between the ‘First Class’ suits and the FF suits would be cool.

    THANK GOD!!!!!! NO LEATHER!!!!!!!! I liked the “First Class” Outfits….but I am glad there is going to be something different : )….maybe Singer will make a GOOD X-men Movie overall
