Burn Notice is a Ratings Winner aka Congrats TV Watchers, You’re Not All Morons After All
Burn Notice TV Series, TV News — By Nix on August 28, 2009
Let’s face it, my fellow TV watchers can be pretty moronic at times. How else do you explain the cancellation of Life on NBC, New Amsterdam on FOX, and a host of other, really good shows that got the axe? Meanwhile, NBC is rolling out the 200th version of Law and Order and CBS is prepping CSI: Tibet and CSI: My Closet. But hey, there’s a silver lining: Burn Notice, one of my favorite shows on TV at the moment, is flying high in the ratings, which means you people are actually watching it.
Here’s USA Network touting the greatness of Burn Notice:
BURN NOTICE BREAKS RECORDS WITH 9.1 MILLION VIEWERS
8/6 BURN NOTICE MOST WATCHED SCRIPTED EPISODE ON CABLE SO FAR IN 2009
ROYAL PAINS BRINGS IN SERIES HIGH WITH 8.2 MILLION VIEWERS
With the addition of L7 data, the 8/6 airing of BURN NOTICE has now become USA’s most-watched original series telecast of all-time with 9.1 million viewers. This is the first time a USA original series has broken the 9 million viewers benchmark.
BURN NOTICE also set a USA Network record with 4.4 million viewers in P25-54, as well as delivering a series high in P18-49 with 3.76 million viewers.
USA’s newest original series ROYAL PAINS also delivered series highs on Thursday, 8/6, with the addition of L7 data, delivering 8.2 million total viewers and 3.884 million P25-54.
ROYAL PAINS, the #1 new original series on cable in 2009, will finale its first season this Thursday, August 27th at 10/9c on USA Network.
Characters Welcome.
I never got into Royal Pains, mostly because medical shows, even one set on or along a sunny beach bores the crap out of me. But Burn Notice is flying high, and that’s all I need to know.
Thanks, USA Network! And thanks, non-moron TV watchers!

“Royal Pains” is a good show. It was much different than I was expecting. You should give it a try, as I’m sure they’ll be running it at least once a day until the new season next summer.
I like Burn Notice a lot. My brother turned me onto to it and it’s a definite watcher in our household. I like Royal Pains but wish they would do something with the brother…..like kill him off.
Same with IN PLAIN SIGHT….get rid of mom and sister.
I do wish that these stations would pick up LIFE. That was a great show.
Along with JOURNEYMAN, NEW AMSTERDAM and if there is a God….FIREFLY.
OH well, I take what I can get.
Burn Notice, Pysch, Monk, Royal Pains – they’re some of the best shows on TV. USA is the best.
I so agree with you.
