By Bubbles is the Only way to Travel in First Clip from Oz: The Great and Powerful

James Franco and Michelle Williams in Oz - The Great and Powerful (2013) Movie Image

I’m not the biggest fan of 3D out there (in fact, I kinda hate it — despise it, even, with a passion) but I can see how a film like Sam Raimi’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful” would look pretty cool in 3D. It’s one of those movies with all kinds of wacky things happening on screen and weird looking structures popping up all over the place. This first clip from the movie pretty much sells all that, and it’s just a minute long.

Now, will I pay extra to see this in 3D? Probably not, but then again, I really, really despise 3D. Your mileage may vary, though.

When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Starring Mila Kunis, James Franco, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, Abigail Spencer, Joey King, Zach Braff, Martin Klebba, Ted Raimi, Bill Cobbs, Tony Cox, Tim Holmes, and traveling down the yellow brick road all over again March 8, 2013.
