Caesar’s Stunt, er, Ape Runs Wild in San Francisco Rise of the Apes Set

Some images from the set of Fox’s upcoming “Caesar: Rise of the Apes”, their prequel movie to the “Planet of the Apes” franchise. Andy Serkis is supposed to play Caesar, the film’s main ape, who starts a rebellion that eventually ends up with that whole “Planet of the Apes” scenario we’re all used to by now. The guy in the motion capture suit below, by the by, is not Andy Serkis, even though he has a “Caesar” name tag. I reckond that’s his stunt double or such. Via I09.

An origin story set in present day San Francisco, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

James Franco stars in the film alongside Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, and Brian Cox. Rupert Wyatt directs.

The apes rise June 24 2011.

The dude in the suit, his name escapes me, is a stunt coordinator/movement coach – I recognize him from the special features of Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes, X2 and Superman Returns.

That’s Terry Notary! Check him out on IMDB.Com. A very long list of very impressive credits!
