Call of Duty Black Ops Readying 3rd Expansion Pack: Annihilation

Sheesh. Already? Yup. Ready or not, Treyarch will be releasing the third expansion pack for their bestselling first-person shooter “Call of Duty: Black Ops” as a DLC on June 28th. As always, XBOX gamers will get the map first, while the rest of us will have to wait, in all likelihood, a month before we can dive in.

If it seems like the maps are coming fast and furious, that’s probably because you’re a PS3 player. Thanks to the Playstation Network hack, PS3 players just recently got their hands on the second expansion pack, “Escalation” last week. Frankly, it all feels a little much, and as with “Escalation”, I won’t be jumping in head-first, mostly because I haven’t played “Black Ops” enough since the hack to really justify another $15 expenditure on an “old” game. For the record, I still haven’t gotten “Escalation”, and I’m seriously considering just waiting for “Modern Warfare 3″ to buy another “COD” game.

“With Annihilation, Black Ops fans will get four exciting and unique multiplayer settings with Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard,” said Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia. “Players will also enjoy an all-new Zombies experience, Shangri-La, an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters.”

And for those still trying to level up, there will be a double XP weekend starting July 1st. Take a gander at a preview of the levels from Treyarch below.

Wow I have zero respect for anyone who buys into this crap. I remember the days when good games came out, you know back when Call of Duty was good (the first game) and when the PC was where gamers played, and we would get patches every now and then with tweaks, improvements and… maps and extra content.

Honestly look at it like this. You pay $60 ($70 after tax) which is already overpriced for a recycled game that is NOT a good game and has limited content at launch. Much less content than should be included with ANY game. Then a month later you pay for a little bit more content that should be there in the first place. Then you pay again, and now with this one a third time bringing the total for DLC to $45. So you have sunk $115 into one game. ONE GAME! One game where, in this case with Activision, the CEO of which has publicly said he cares nothing about gamers or what they want/enjoy and discourages creative thinking at the work place so he can pump out franchises once a year (the same game regurgitated with no improvements just a different name).

Back on track to the price. Let’s say you’re playing on an Xbox 360 and you buy this game with all the map packs. Then you have spent over 50% of the cost of the console you are playing on….with one game. If you buy 2 games like this you could have bought a brand new Xbox 360. That’s absolutely disgusting.

I honestly have zero respect for people that buy those map packs. They should be included with the game at launch with the rest of the content for the initial price of the game. As long as people keep buying them, we’re going to keep getting garbage games with barely and content and keep getting ripped off. Stop ruining the gaming industry for people who actually care about it!

Sorry for the rant but this crap really pisses me off.

Wow, you’ve thought a lot about something you claim to have so little regard for. And if paying for something that gives you enjoyment is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.

Unfortunately it seems like your standards as well as countless others towards gaming have gone down incredulously. (That’s not a jab, just an observation) The fact is, until gaming became a money grab more than “giving gamers something fun to do”, we had better quality and better content and weren’t ripped off. Now things have done a complete 180.

You’re old enough you should remember. The fact that you are pro map pack for $15 baffles me because I would have assumed you grew up with the good games, not this garbage they call gaming nowadays.

And yes I have thought about it a lot, if I’m going to be against something I’m going to be knowledgeable in the subject.

This anti-COD attitude is amusing. I’ve trolled other gaming sites, and I see it everytime a COD news item pops up. Anti-COD gamers running up, literally tramping each other to be the first to decry the evil of the COD games and the stupidity of COD gamers. Does it disturb you a little bit that you have such strong hatred for a game franchise you don’t even play? If I had no interest whatsoever in a game title, I wouldn’t even bother to read any news items on it, much less take the effort to make grand claims about why it’s destroying the very fabric of reality and by God if we don’t change our course now we’re doomed — DOOMED!!!
