Cameron Diaz to Fight Crime with the Green Hornet?

The girl must have a thing for masked crime fighters in green (remember her break-through role in “The Mask”?), because Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Cameron Diaz is currently in negotiations to board the Seth Rogen/Michel Gondry superhero movie as the Green Hornet’s love interest. Before this news, the chances of the movie going forward was probably 50-50 after all the fits and starts it’s gone through in the year since it was announced, but if they’re intent on casting Diaz, then it certainly looks like Rogen as the Green Hornet will actually — gasp — happen.

EW says the negotiations are still ongoing and Diaz hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet, so that means she could still bail. I’m just saying, Rogen fans.

Anyways, Gondry will direct the superhero movie from a script by star Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg. Is it a comedy? Is it an action-comedy ala “The Mask”? Or will Michel Gondry turn it into a freaky dinky little movie about a dude in a green hornet’s mask who drives around town with a little Chinese fella? One can only hope…
