The Walt Disney Studios has made it official: the sequel to Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: The First Avenger” (let’s just go with “Captain America 2″ for now) has been scheduled for a April 4, 2014 release date. Not only that, but the studio was kind enough to release a new image of Cap from “The Avengers” (below), and offered up this big of plot for the sequel:
The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.
So yes, there will be no flashing back to WWII for our thawed out super soldier, and instead “Captain America 2″ will continue Steve Rogers’ adventures in the modern era, as he continues his “affiliation” with Fury and the SHIELD superspy boys and girls.
Chris Evans, of course, will return as Captain America, though he’ll be working with a new director the second time ’round.
“The Avengers”, meanwhile, assembles this May 4th. Yes, May 4th. That’s just a month away. Yikes.
