Brand-spanking new “Captain America: The First Avenger” featurette released by the Internet security people at Norton, which gives well-deserved attention to Captain America’s other prized possession, that shield of his. Let’s face it, no one has a shield like the good Captain, and this 3-minute spot explores that aspect of America’s first super human soldier.

“Captain America: The First Avenger” will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving.)

Starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Richard Armitage, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Natalie Dormer, Neal McDonough, Toby Jones, JJ Feild, and directed by Joe Johnston.

The shield flies July 22, 2011.

Can’t wait. Sadly I won’t be taking the 5yr old because of the war elelments but she can see Cap in Avengers in 2012.

Can’t wait either. I really love the WWII feel. While I know we need to get the character up into the “now” for the Avengers I hope they consider other movies in the Cap thread being kept in WWII. I would hate to see the whole character wrapped up neatly into one movie. I’m also hoping for some nods to the Invaders. My hopes are much higher for this movie than what I had for GL.

I think they’ll pretty much wrap it up in this movie, that said some flashbacks in the sequels would work well. Like the flashbacks in “Highlander”

      Sent on the go.

Hopefully this one will have cameos, easter eggs and nods a plenty! I’d love to see a variation of the Invaders. A post credits scene with Namor and Atlantis. Cameos by other super soldiers. This one should really play up the in jokes and fan fodder.

But this is the most serious of the Marvel movies. Easter eggs and nods I’m all for but jokes not too much. I do believe the Invaders will be like the Howling Commandos but not US military run, Namor is pretty much out I think.
