I love this spot — it’s got it all: jokes, comic book action, Captain America throwing out a smooth one-liner, and more comic book action. Well done, Marvel.

“Captain America: The First Avenger” will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving.)

Starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Richard Armitage, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Natalie Dormer, Neal McDonough, Toby Jones, JJ Feild and directed by Joe Johnston.

The kid from Brooklyn goes to war July 22, 2011.

      July 28th. Last I heard on GL, it was August, but it’s fluid, so could change.
