Pixie-esque Carey Mulligan is best known for her roles in dramas like “An Education” and the upcoming “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”. She was in 2009’s crime thriller “Public Enemies”, and apparently she liked the taste, because she is in negotiations to join the cast of Nicholas Winding Refn’s (“Bronson”) action thriller “Drive”, according to the Risky Business Blog. Brian Cranston from “Breaking Bad” and Ryan Gosling are already set to star in the adaptation of the James Sallis novel.
The story centers around
a nameless Hollywood stuntman (Gosling) who moonlights as a freelance getaway driver during robberies. When a bank heist goes wrong, he ends up on the run with a contract on his head and an ex-con’s girlfriend (Mulligan) in his car.
From the summary I can’t help but think of movies like “Vanishing Point” and “Two-Lane Blacktop”. Shooting is set to begin around Los Angeles in September. OddLot Entertainment, Bold Films, and Marc Platt Prods. are producing the film.
