Carla Gugino Finally Fufills a Lot of Fantasies as Elektra Luxx

If you’ve never heard of writer-director Sebastian Gutierrez or heard of his ensemble comedy “Women in Trouble”, then that’s probably because no one ever put together the words “Carla Gugino to play a porn star” in any of the descriptions for the movie. Well someone finally got wise to the fact that there’s a whole lot of boys out there (and maybe girls, ahem) who have had a crush on Miss Gugino even before her nude-tastic turn as Marv’s parole officer in “Sin City”. As such, these smarty pants have called Gutierrez’s next movie “Elektra Luxx”. Which, coincidentally, is also the name of Gugino’s character in the movie, a porn star whose life is turned upside down when — gasp! — she finds out she’s preggers. That’s, like, a big no-no in the porn biz, in case you were wondering.

Pic is a sequel to “Women in Trouble,” an ensemble comedy about one day in the lives of 10 Los Angeles women that has yet to find distribution.

“Elektra Luxx” picks up the travails of the characters a month later, again covering a full day. The original starred Gugino, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Adrianne Palicki, Marley Shelton, Connie Britton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Simon Baker.

Tim Olyphant, Alicia Silverstone and Justin Kirk have been tapped to play characters in “Elektra Luxx,” and many of the actors from the first film are reprising their roles.

Elektra Luxx (Gugino) is a porn star whose life is turned upside down when she discovers she’s pregnant.

Gutierrez, ever the optimist, is already planning a third installment of his movie, to be called “Women in Ecstasy”, even though the first one has yet to find distribution. But unless someone keeps including the words, “Carla Gugino is a porn star” somewhere in that movie’s description, we probably won’t notice. Not saying we’re shallow or anything, but — oh, who are we kidding. We really are that shallow.

Granted, “Elektra Luxx” is a comedy, so there probably won’t be any “Boogie Nights”-esque scenes in the whole thing, but hope springs eternal.
