Casting Notice for Thor

Still trying to wrap your head around the idea that Marvel Studios has tapped Shakespearean guy Kenneth Branagh to direct their “Thor” movie? Well get over it, because it’s happening. So what’s next, but to speculate on who will play Thor? A lot of names have already been tossed around, some more credible than others, but according to this casting sheet, Marvel is looking for a Thor that is in his mid to late ’20s.

Corona Coming Attractions got their hands on this little casting flyer:

Male MUST BE MID-LATE 20′S and SIX FEET OR TALLER. LEAD.

Physically powerful, very handsome, occasionally egotistical, petulant, and wild. A natural warrior with a quick charming wit who must be genuinely and severly (sp) humbled before becoming the compassionate, mature her of our film.

Not saying the above is true, but if it is, then it’s likely Marvel is looking for a newcomer to play the Norse God of Thunder, and not any of the established names we’ve heard being tossed around, like Daniel Craig, who famously turned down the role, Kevin McKidd, or Brad Pitt, all of whom are too old according to the notice. Then again, I’m sure Marvel would change their mind in a heartbeat if a big name like, say, Pitt calls them up tomorrow and tells them he wants the role.

But a Thor in his ’20s? Shouldn’t he be older? Like in his ’30s? In fact, I kind of liked Ultimate Thor. Now that’s one tough dude.

Below: Ultimate Thor and his magic hammer. Just don’t ask to touch it.

Hey people come on!!, the person who should play Thor and Looks like Thor is WWE wrestler Triple H. I know they are looking for a younger actor, but he has that look and the built for the part. So I hope it happens.

He’s not in his late 20′s but Vladimir Kulich is 6’5″ and looks like a Norse Viking! You could easily imagine crushing bad guys with a giant hammer. He even has the accent to go with the role. Don’t bleieve me? watch any of his scenes in the 13th Warrior.

Before asking who will play the title roles, I think we should be more concerned about the storyline of the movie itself. I think it would be better to base the movie on the actual legend of thor as told in the actual norse mythology as the first episode in what I would expect to be a trilogy.
