Casting Notices: Gerald McRaney in Django Unchained, Boris Kodjoe Reprises Resident Evil 5

Gerald McRaneyTwo bits of casting notices today, both, coincidentally, featuring castmembers from the late NBC show “Undercovers”.

First up, Gerald McRaney (Major Dad from, well, the TV show “Major Dad”, but also a co-star on “Undercovers”) is currently in negotiations to join the growing cast of Quentin Tarantino’s bloodbath Western “Django Unchained”.

McRaney will be playing a plantation owner, preferably one that used to be a Major, cause, you know, that would be kinda funny.

“Django Unchained” stars Jaime Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz and Kevin Costner, and centers on Foxx, a slave-turned-bounty hunter who is on a mission to rescue his wife from DiCaprio’s sadistic slavemaster. Waltz will play the German bounty hunter who mentors our hero.

Over at horror movie zombieland, Boris Kodjoe, one of the stars of “Undercovers”, and one of the stars of the overly stuffed “Resident Evil: Afterlife” has confirmed via Twitter that he will be reprising his Luther character in the upcoming “Resident Evil: Retribution”.

Ok, Resident Evil fans. @MillaJovovich and myself are up here in Toronto getting ready for RE5 More action than ever!!!

Kodjoe joins Milla Jovovich and Sienna Guillory as returnees from the previous movie.

Hopefully this doesn’t mean Wentworth Miller and Ali Larter (Alice Lite aka Claire Redfield) will also be back. Nothing against those two actors, but stuffing the Redfields into “Afterlife” was just gratuitous overkill.
