Judging from the number of people who continue to post in our “28 Months Later” (the tentative (re: guesstimate) title for the third “28 Days Later” movie) articles, Danny Boyle’s infected world is still very popular with the kids. Comic book publisher Boom Studios and movie guys Fox Atomic apparently know that, too, and they’ve teamed up to give fans of the franchise a fresh batch of “28″ stories — via a new comic book series.
According to the Boom! Studios press release announcing the new comic book series, the first story arc of the series will follow the female lead from “28 Days Later”, Selena (played by Naomie Harris) as she attempts to survive the initial plague outbreak. It will also bridge the first movie with the start of the second movie, “28 Weeks Later”. The PR release promises that “key questions” from the movies will be answered, including, one presumes, what happened to Selena and Jim. Did they live [...]

Earlier this month, Arrow from Arrow-in-the-Head had news that he might know who would be stepping into the director’s chair for the latest “28 Days Later” sequel, tentatively titled “28 Months Later”: one Paul Andrew Williams, whose most recent film was the British horror flick “The Cottage”. Not so much. According to Fangoria, while Williams was indeed involved for a time with a “28 Days Later” sequel, it was actually the director pitching ideas for a prequel, but since the producers didn’t go for Williams’ idea, it’s a moot point. So who will be directing yet another “28 Days Later” sequel? It’s a very familiar name, indeed…
Via Fangoria:
Williams’ idea, [producer Andrew Macdonald] reveals, was not a sequel but a prequel to the two existing films, and was one of a handful of different story ideas that had been considered in the wake of WEEKS. “We’re still looking at various concepts. Danny [Boyle, director of DAYS and a producer on WEEKS] [...]

John Fallon, aka Arrow of Arrow in the Head website fame, has news that may or may not bear out on the upcoming “28 Days Later” sequel, tentatively titled (as far as I know) “28 Months Later”. Originally, the series’ original director, Danny Boyle, as recently as last month had been making noise about coming back to direct the third installment in the horror franchise, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside, at least according to Arrow. So who will be in charge of the zombie (er, excuse me, I mean infected) bloodletting the third time around?
Dishes the man with the arrow in his head via his site:
Hey all, am at the SITGES FILM FESTIVAL right now doing my thing and while I was sitting downstairs with some peeps I overheard a conversation that had my genre friendly ears perk up in attention. Seems that there’s a sequel to 28 DAYS LATER and 28 WEEKS LATER coming our [...]

I’ll admit it — I thought Danny Boyle’s “28 Days Later” was a derivative horror movie that aped Romero’s Dead movies way too closely for my taste, including its entire Third Act with the soldiers in the mansion, which was pretty much a “Day of the Dead” retread without the proper crediting. And so, yeah, I wasn’t exactly sad when Boyle didn’t come back for “28 Weeks Later,” but after seeing how that one turned out under someone else’s direction, I kinda wished he had done the sequel. Boyle would have brought more humanity to the story; as it stands, “28 Weeks Later” was a frenzied series of zombie bloodletting, without any real shred of humanity to it beyond the superficial, something Boyle’s movie, despite all its faults, actually had.
Boyle has previously made it clear that he would like to do another “28″ movie, and spoke about that desire a while back. Now, he’s told MTV the same thing again, [...]

Danny Boyle’s zombies (I think he’s since gave in to calling them zombies now) came, saw, and ate heartedly in “28 Days Later”, and they did likewise in “28 Weeks Later”. And now, Danny Boyle is considering returning to the land of the dead in a sequel to “Weeks”, or so one would assume in this interview with SlashFilm. I had always intended to see “28 Weeks Later”, but for one reason or another, never got around to it. (I’ll probably catch it on DVD.) At the end of the film, it was shown that the infection had escaped Britain, and was now poised to munch on the French and most of Europe. That was where a second sequel (third installment in the franchise) would take place if one should be made, which in itself is in doubt considering the lackluster box office of “Weeks”.
Here’s what Boyle said about his ideas for a third installment:
“I’ve got an idea for it. [...]
