Or actually, videos from Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell’s “Army of Darkness”, but soundtrack from the trailer for Zack Snyder’s “300″. Yes, that’s right, some enterprising (and with plenty of time on his hands, apparently) bloke has re-cut a trailer for “Army of Darkness” using footages from the movie, and transposing the images over the “300″ trailer. Now normally you wouldn’t think such a thing would work, but oh my you would be wrong! Whoever did this is quite the talent, and it must have taken him days combing over “Darkness” footage to come up with just the right scenes. And it works!
Here, then, is your “300 Army of Darkness” movie trailer.

With the impending DVD release of Zack Snyder’s “300″, Warner Home Video is oiling up the promotional gears for a full frontal assault. First up is a Join The 300 campaign, where you, the everyday movie geek, can enter into a contest for a chance to win free trips to Comic Con to meet Snyder and company, and take a tour of the “Watchmen” set in Canada. And yes, I’m thinking the same thing you are: Keep the Comic Con trip, I want a set tour of “Watchmen”!! Head on below for the details and how to win those groovy prizes.
Warner Home Video (WHV) announced today the launch of www.JoinThe300.com, an interactive online site featuring 300-related challenges for fans to complete and boasting social networking and user-generated content functionality, in anticipation of the July 31st DVD release of 300, the box office sensation that has earned more than $200 million at the U.S. box office.

Now personally I could do without a game based on “Saw 3″ (or “Saw” 1 and 2 for that matter), but a game based on Zack Snyder’s awesome “300″ would be, well, pretty bloody awesome. And with emphasis on bloody, because let’s face it, no game could really dare call itself “300″ unless there was a lot of blood, guts, spearing, and head chopping going on. Hopefully Brash Entertainment, an extension of Legendary Pictures (the folks behind “300″), will go that hardcore route rather than try to pander to the kiddies. And they have a whopping $400 million to make it happen, too.
Via Variety:
Company has projects in the works based on movies from five studios and has multigame deals with several of them. It’s already working on a dozen movie-based titles, including one based on Lionsgate’s “Saw” franchise and another, sources confirmed, based on “300.” First games will come out this holiday season. While Brash is remaining tight-lipped about its [...]

Via SuperheroHype, Zach Snyder’s masterful rendering of Frank Miller’s “300″ limited series comic book is coming to a DVD shelf near you. The DVDs will come in regular DVD, Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD on July 31st; there will be those standbys, the single-disc DVD, as well as the cooler 2-disc Special Edition DVDs. And come on, how can you watch “300″ and not wish there was an extra DVD disc full of junk that is probably not all that important, but you still want it anyway because, well, the movie rocks? Exactly.
The single disc version include commentary by Snyder, screenwriter Kurt Johnstad and director of photography Larry Fong. The two-disc version will include the same commentary plus additional scenes of the traitorous hunchback and never-before-seen giant warriors, “Frank Miller’s Vision Realized on Film,” “300 Spartans – Face or Fiction?: The Shocking Life of a Spartan Revealed,” “Who Were the Spartans?: How the Actors Built Their Characters Based on Spartan [...]

In 1999, Frank Miller wrote and drew (with colors by Lynn Varley) a limited series comic book (now known as “graphic novels” because, one presumes, it sounds better) called “300″. It told the tale of Spartan King Leonidas, who went for a walk “somewhere up north” with 300 of his “personal bodyguards” when he was not allowed to take Sparta’s army to go meet the invading Persian hordes, led by their self-proclaimed God-King Xerxes. The year was 480 B.C., and Xerxes had determined to finish what his father Darius had failed decades before — conquer Hellenic Greece, or burn it to the ground trying. Zach Snyder’s “300″ is a faithful adaptation of Frank Miller’s story, but it is not a faithful re-telling of what actually transpired that day at Thermopylae, aka The Hot Gates, and the difference should be noted.
Gerard Butler (“Reign of Fire”) slips on the bronze helmet and picks up the heavy shield (but curiously retains his heavy [...]

In a blurb I wrote in my ‘Best of 2005′ list, I declared “A Bittersweet Life” to be “one of the slickest pieces of stone-cold machismo to slide across the silver screen since ‘Scarface.”‘ Well, I think we have a strong challenger for that title in Zach Snyder’s “300.” The latest film adaptation of a Frank Miller limited series comic book, “300″ tells the tale of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C., where a small contingent of 300 Spartan warriors held the mighty Persian army at bay for three days, enough time to allow the rest of Greece’s bickering city-states to assemble a united front, in particular Athens’ navy, in defense of their nation.
The film opens with a brief tutorial on the Spartan way of life. We learn that newborn male Spartans not deemed perfect are tossed over a cliff to their death, and those that are spared are trained to kill from the time they can walk. At [...]
