I gotta admit, I don’t have a whole lot of faith that the “Bangkok Dangerous” remake will be all that good, mostly because, well, the original wasn’t exactly brilliant stuff to begin with, and the guys who made the original is also making the remake. And yes, the fact that the movie will not be screened for critics is a big tell. You know the kind of big tell that, if you showed it in a poker game, you would lose your house, your cat, and your ex-wife? Yeah, it’s that big. But then again, this featurette for the movie looks pretty good. Or at least, not quite as crappy as I thought it would be.
The film stars Nicolas Cage as one of those hitmen who is doing just one last job before he retires to live on a beach in Tora Bora. You know, the usual hitmen movie bullshit storyline. Of course, the last job turns out to be [...]

Man, I sure don’t want to be an investor who has movie in the Nicolas Cage actioner “Bangkok Dangerous”. I don’t think I’ve heard a single good thing about the movie, including the news that the film won’t be screened for movie critics. Granted, “professional” movie critics who see movies for free are freeloading bastards for the most part, but the only times a studio refuses to show a movie to critics is if their movie is critic proof (anything with the word “Star Wars” in the title, for instance), or if it’s horrid, in which case they’d rather sneak it into theaters, flood the airwaves with advertising, and hope to get some suckers into the theaters. I don’t think you need me to tell you where “Bangkok Dangerous” falls in those two categories.
The film finds a hitman named Joe (Nicolas Cage) in Bangkok to pull off a series of jobs, but ends up falling for a local woman (Charlie [...]

Yup, there’s no doubt about it — if the Pang Brothers ever knew how to direct a cool action scene, they must have forgotten during the filming of Nicolas Cage’s “Bangkok Dangerous”, because there doesn’t seem to be anything remotely cool about this latest clip from the remake, which has Nicolas Cage’s hitman character shooting it out with a couple of spastic locals in a red-light-ish back room full of empty water cooler bottles. I seem to recall a similar scene taking place in the original film (also directed by the Pang brothers), but that movie seemed infinitely cooler on the action. But hey, maybe all the red light has screwed up my eyesight. See it for yourself below.
A hitman who’s in Bangkok to pull off a series of jobs falls for a local woman and bonds with his errand boy.
A bit of trivia: The local woman and errand boy in the remake are named Fon and Kong, respectively, which [...]

Lionsgate has sent over a clip from their upcoming remake of the Pang Brothers’ “Bangkok Dangerous”, starring Nicolas Cage as a hitman who travels to Thailand and, instead of spending all his time and money in Bangkok’s red light district like any other normal male, he spends them trying to knock people off. But hey, that’s what makes it a movie and not my summer vacation from two years ago, am I right? What kind of movie would this be if all we got to do was watch Cage drink himself silly and whore around? Heck, if he did that, he would … win an Oscar? Oh right, “Bangkok Dangerous”. Clip and new image from the flick below.
BANGKOK DANGEROUS is an adrenaline-powered thriller staring Nicholas Cage as an anonymous assassin who takes an unexpected turn when he travels to Thailand to complete a series of contract killings. Directors Oxide Pang and Danny Pang (The Eye) paint an explosive picture of [...]

Lionsgate just sent over the new poster for “Bangkok Dangerous”, starring Nicolas Cage as a globe-hopping assassin who finds himself the hunted when he comes to Bangkok, Thailand for a job. The movie is based on the 1999 movie of the same name by the Pang Brothers, who returns to direct this Hollywood version from a script by Jason Richman (”Bad Company”).
The life of an anonymous assassin takes an unexpected turn when he travels to Thailand to complete a series of contract killings. Joe (Nicolas Cage), a remorseless hitman, is in Bangkok to execute four enemies of a ruthless crime boss named Surat. He hires Kong (Shahkrit Yamnarm), a street punk and pickpocket, to run errands for him with the intention of covering his tracks by killing him at the end of the assignment. Strangely, Joe, the ultimate lone wolf, instead finds himself mentoring the young man while simultaneously being drawn into a tentative romance with a local [...]

Apparently people still flock to the theaters to see a movie just because Nicolas Cage is in it. Or at least that seems to be the premise behind his new poster design for the Pang Brothers’ “Bangkok Dangerous”, which is a Hollywood remake of their own 1999 film of the same name. (Yup, they remade their own movie. Bitch about that, Asian film purists!) Here’s a new poster for said remake, featuring a very prominent look at Cage’s face, just in case, you know, you don’t know what he looks like, or something. Plus, a Spanish trailer that surfaced a while back. The tagline for the film: “One man. One bullet. One shot.”
A cold-blooded hit man heads to Bangkok to pull off four jobs, and winds up falling in love with a local girl and bonding with his errand boy.
Starring Nicolas Cage, Steve Baldocchi, Chris Heebink, James Wearing Smith, Charlie Young, and directed by Oxide Pang and Danny Pang.

The fanboy in me wants to rave and bitch about how Hollywood is remaking every cool film that comes out of Asian, and thus ruining them as a result. But when the people remaking that “cool film” are the same people who made the cool film in the first place — well, who am I gonna bitch against? Exactly. Here’s your first look at the poster for the Pang Brothers’ “Bangkok Dangerous” remake with Nicolas Cage.
Kong, a professional killer, has been mute since childhood. He works the city’s toughest streets; silence his only response to the killings he performs.
He is numb, acting with a sociopathic coldness as he brings down his steady, impersonal revenge on the world. Ultimately, the chance for his transformation (and redemption) arrives in the form of shop assistant Fon.
She is able to provide the only tenderness and warmth he’s ever known. Suddenly stricken with remorse and guilt for his past actions, he fights back against those [...]

Via Joblo, who points to the site Filmflash as having put online images from the upcoming Nicolas Cage remake of “Bangkok Dangerous”. Now before you Asian movie purists start getting all a’fluttered over this, keep in mind that the original directors of the original movie is ALSO directing this remake. Basically, if the guys who made the original doesn’t care about Hollywood remaking their movie, what’s YOUR beef? That having been said, Cage looks decent in these first images from the movie. The Pang Brothers also seem to be sticking to the original storyline about a deaf hitman who falls in love with a local girl, but with minor deviations that seem necessary given Cage isn’t, well, a deaf Thai guy.
A hitman (Cage) in Bangkok to pull off a series of jobs falls for a local woman and bonds with his errand boy.
Nicolas Cage, Charlie Yeung, and Shahkrit Yamnarm stars. The Pang Brothers direct. There isn’t a release date for [...]
