A gaggle of new movie promos added to their respective movie galleries in the last few weeks that we didn’t see fit to tell you about until now. Why? Because that’s just how we roll. The newbies include: more of Marky Mark noir posing in “Max Payne”, Jennifer Carpenter’s horror remake aka zombies in an apartment complex movie “Quarantine”, George Bush being all George Bushy in Oliver Stone’s “W.”, early promos from the Notorious B.I.G. biopic “Notorious”, more from Russell Crowe and Leo in “Body of Lies”, some more looks at Daniel Craig’s “other” big movie of 2008 “Defiance”, and just in case you haven’t gotten enough eyefuls of “Eagle Eye” yet, there are more pics in that movie gallery, too.

What does Ridley Scott and a serial killer that likes to create silly traps to kill people have in common? Answer: They each got new posters for their respective movies today. New posters for Scott’s spy thriller “Body of Lies” and the latest incarnation of the never-say-die “Saw” franchise (number 5, to be exact) have popped up online. The “Saw 5″ tagline is, “You won’t believe how it ends”, while the “Body of Lies” one settled for, “Trust No One. Deceive Everyone.” But whereas the “Lies” one sells itself with its two primary stars (Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio), all “Saw 5’s” got is a dude whose head is stuck in a lousy see-through box that will probably chop his head off if he fails to solve a riddle or something.
Anyways. The posters.

The first trailer for Ridley Scott’s “Body of Lies” was good, but it didn’t really give us a sense of the film’s overall premise — that is, DiCaprio’s CIA agent Roger Ferris being sent to the Middle East to ferry out some bad guy terrorists. That part of the film is now clearer; plus, we “get” that Russell Crowe’s CIA handler character is a bit of an asshole (okay, he’s a pretty BIG asshole), willing to do anything to get the job done, even at the cost of Ferris’ life. Or at least that’s what the second trailer makes you think. This thing looks good, if just for Crowe’s seemingly wacky performance as a suit without an iota of the realities of the war he’s trying to manipulate.
Based on Washington Post columnist David Ignatius’ 2007 novel about a CIA operative, Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), who uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. [...]

Russell Crowe. Leonardo DiCaprio. And Ridley Scott. It’s almost enough of a combination to make me squeal like a little girl. But luckily for all of us, I won’t do that, because it would just be embarrassing, as well as get my manliest man of all men credentials revoke, and that is something we cannot have. Anyhoo. The first ever trailer for Scott’s terrorist action thriller “Body of Lies”, which looks more like a buddy cop action movie than an international, globe-hopping terrorist thriller, has arrive in the interwebs. It looks pretty damn good, but then again, Scott can direct a turtle race and make it look bloody brilliant.

From all the advance reviews we’ve read on Christopher Nolan’s second outing as helmer of the Dark Knight, “The Dark Knight” will either be the greatest comic book movie ever made, or one of the most hyped. Knowing the Internets, it could be either/or. In today’s roundtable of “Dark Knight”-related news, we’ll start with the movies that will be showing up in front of it, namely the trailers. It’s been confirmed by Comingsoon, after weeks of rumor, that “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” and “Watchmen” will indeed premiere their trailers in front of Nolan’s movie, thus guaranteeing them, possibly, the biggest trailer debuts since, well, ever, maybe. And oh yeah, you can add Ridley Scott’s terrorism flick “Body of Lies” (with Leonardo Dicaprio and Russell Crowe) into the mix of trailers making their debut in front of the Knight, too.

The new Leonardo DiCaprio-Russell Crowe spy thriller “Body of Lies” concerns terrorists, the Iraq War, and Al Qaeda, so you could be forgiven for thinking that it’s just another Hollywood movie about the evils of America, American foreign policy, Bush, etc. It very well could end up being all those things, but with Ridley Scott in the director’s chair, you will at least get an interesting movie to look at. And now, here’s your first look at Leo in the film (thumbnail to your left, bigger image below).
What’s it about?
A former journalist injured in the Iraq war is hired by the CIA to track down an Al Qaeda leader in Jordan. Based on the novel “Body of Lies” by David Ignatius.
Here’s your first look at the movie (via). Not exactly an action shot, but hey, DiCaprio seems into it (he also kind of looks like a young Robert De Niro, don’t you think?):

Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott just can’t get enough of each other. Besides already working together on the Robin Hood revisionist movie “Nottingham” (the Sheriff of Nottingham as the good guy!), the duo have signed on for “Body of Lies”, the movie adaptation of the novel of the same name by journalist turned writer David Ignatius. The film will star Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio as CIA agents determined to stop an Al Qaeda terrorist by “planting a false rumor that the bomber is in cahoots with the Americans”.
True to the two men’s age, Crowe will play a veteran CIA chief (or as Variety calls him, “Ed Hoffman, the manipulative CIA boss”), while DiCaprio is the naive, idealistic CIA agent.
Here’s a better description of the Ignatius novel from Amazon (notice the lack of an “Ed Hoffman” character mention):
[Body of Lies] tells the story of idealistic CIA agent Roger Ferris, newly stationed in Jordan after being wounded in Iraq. After [...]
