Let’s face it, unless you’re a screaming tweener or you get paid to do this stuff as an entertainment “journalist”, you don’t actually watch the MTV Movie Awards anymore. But maybe I should have, especially when I heard about this story from the show — Sascha Baron Cohen showing up in its Bruno get-up, “floating” through the air on a rig, when he “accidentally” falls down and lands in Eminem’s lap. Eminem steamed up and rushed out of there. Heavily choreographed or brilliant stunt by Cohen? You decide.

In his neverending attempt to prove to the world that comedy that is as subtle as a hammer to the face can make big bucks at the box office, Sacha Baron Cohen is back with “Bruno”, which sees the Brit playing a gay fashionista from Austria who journeys to the U.S. to make fun of us homophobic and repressed people. Cause, you know, we’re homophobic and repressed like that. Poster for “Bruno” below.
Oh, how I miss the days when comedy meant talking out of your butt or styling your hair with man glue instead of a one-trick gag like, “Look, I’m really, really gay! It’s comedy gold!” Sigh.
The mockudrama will star Cohen and a cavalcade of unsuspecting doofuses in Alice Evans, Trishelle Cannatella, Sandra Seeling, Candice Cunningham, Ben Youcef, Richard Bey, and Ron Paul. Larry Charles, who helmed Cohen’s 2006 hit “Borat”, returns to helm this one.
Run for cover July 10.

So does this mean Sam Raimi’s “Drag me to Hell” isn’t the fourth coming of “Evil Dead” that we’ve all been waiting for? Possibly, since it’s doubtful ol Sammy can get back to his low-budget horror groove if “Drag me to Hell” qualifies for a PG-13 rating, which it has officially gotten from the MPAA. Meanwhile, Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Bruno” has earned itself an R-rating after trimming some scenes (and possibly removing others) and re-submitting it to the MPAA. Previously, the MPAA had slapped the raunchy faux documentary with the dreaded NC-17.
“Drag me to Hell”, which is listed as a PG-13 film at IMDB.com for “for sequences of horror violence, terror, disturbing images and language”, stars Alison Lohman as a poor bank loan lass who finds herself cursed by an old gypsy after she denies the old bag a loan. Said loan involves visions of ugly things trying to drag her to hell, hence the title.

Call me crazy, but I think Sacha Baron Cohen’s new character in the movie “Bruno” might be gay. It’s all very subtle, mind you, and you really have to dig deep and read between the lines, but that’s just the feeling I get. Anyways, in the mockumentary, Bruno is an Austrian fashionista (I think that means he’s really into fashion) who makes his way to America. How he ends up making fun of rednecks out hunting, or somehow lying his way into the U.S. Army will probably make sense once you see the movie. Or not. Eh, new pics from “Bruno” below.
Starring Sacha Baron Cohen, Alice Evans, Trishelle Cannatella, Sandra Seeling, Candice Cunningham, Ben Youcef, Richard Bey, Ron Paul, and directed by Larry Charles.
Bruno and his hot pants invade July 10.

So let me get this straight: Bruno is a gay Austrian fashion designer who comes to America and makes fun of rednecks in the South, black women on talk shows, and tries to make as many people uncomfortable as possible with his gayness? Hunh. So that’s enough for a whole movie? Go figure. Red band trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Bruno” after the jump.
Flamboyant Austrian fashionista Brüno takes his show to America.
Starring Sacha Baron Cohen and everyone else who is too stupid to realize this “flamboyantly” gay guy is making all this shit up just to get a rise out of them. Look, if you allow Cohen and his Bruno get-up to make fun of you like this, you’re obviously too stupid to procreate, and thus deserves to made fun of in public so women can see how dumb you are, and not have sex with you and bring forth more gullible doofuses into this world.
The below is a “red [...]

Board up your windows and hide the cats, my fellow Americans, because Sacha Cohen is back with a new character to make fun of you and convince you what a shitty person you are; this time his name is Bruno, and just like Borat, he’s sure to make you very uncomfortable in an effort to make you laugh — or laugh at you. Either/or. The movie “Bruno” will center around the character Bruno, a supposedly faux fashionista who originated from Cohen’s one-time HBO series Da Ali G Show.
According to Wikipedia:
Bruno (sometimes written as Brüno) is a fictional homosexual character played by Sacha Baron Cohen who first appeared during short sketches on The Paramount Comedy Channel in 1998, before reappearing on Da Ali G Show. Following the success of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, Universal Studios acquired the rights to make the Bruno movie (now in production).
Bruno, who has no known surname, is a [...]

Sacha Baron Cohen, the “brains” behind Borat and Ali G, tells the newspaper The Daily Telegraph that he’s decided to “retire” his two most famous (or is that infamous?) creations. Borat, as you’ll recall, was the “star” of a major Hollywood hit, the eponymously titled “Borat”, and for a while there, Ali G had his own TV show, “Da Ali G Show”.
Says Cohen about his decision:
“When I was being Ali G and Borat I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing,” the 36-year-old actor-comedian says in the British newspaper’s Friday edition.
“It is like saying goodbye to a loved one. It is hard, and the problem with success, although it’s fantastic, is that every new person who sees the Borat movie is one less person I `get’ with Borat again, so it’s a kind of self-defeating form, really.”
Considering that [...]
