According to Sylvester Stallone, he’s not really doing a “Death Wish” remake. Yet. He’s thinking about it, though, so there are some legitimacy to all those rumors that had Stallone going all vigilante on us. And then there’s that “Cliffhanger” remake. Stallone says to forget about him coming on board. In fact, he sounds practically sad they’re remaking one of his movies.
In regards to “Death Wish”, Stallone tells Empire:
“I’m thinking about it. It’s a classic morality tale, where you take a civilised man and take away everything that matters to him so he becomes primitive again.”
He’s thinking about it, but he sounds like he’s leaning against doing it. I don’t know, it might be interesting to see him in the vigilante role. Of course, it would look odd if this beefy, bulky guy decided to become a killer. I think the draw of the Charles Bronson casting was that he looked like your dad. Stallone doesn’t look like your dad; [...]

You know, I don’t know whether to be happy that Sylvester Stallone, who I have been a fan of for decades ever since I was a wee bit lad, is finally getting back on top after such a long time on the bottom, or be kind of miff at him that he doesn’t seem to have anything new to offer, and is instead just remaking and sequelizing everything.
And then there’s this talk of remaking “Death Wish”. While I’m not going to bitch and moan about it, it still bothers me that Stallone’s resurrection is built on a foundation of “been there, done that, can’t think of anything else”. But hey, a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do to get back on top, right? I suppose…
Stallone talks about the “Death Wish” remake with IGN:
“I think Death Wish, if it were done today, would be volcanic,” Stallone said. “The idea of Jeff Goldblum being a mugger who breaks into [...]

Sylvester Stallone as a mild-mannered architecture name Paul Kersey, who, after witnessing a brutal act against his loved ones, takes up arms to kill bad guys on the streets of New York? Maybe. That’s the word from Variety, who reports that MGM and Stallone are currently in talks to have Stallone star and direct the remake of the 1974 movie “Death Wish” that originally starred Charles Bronson and spawned 50 sequels. Or was that fifteen? I lost count after the first five. If the deal goes through and Stallone signs on the dotted line, he’ll be working from a screenplay by Michael Ferris and John Brancato, whose credits include “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” and the upcoming “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”.
More:
“We are looking at our library to determine which potential franchise properties make the most sense for us to produce, and ‘Death Wish’ was clearly one of that jumped out,” said MGM chief operating officer Rick Sands. “We [...]
