Like the idea behind Park Chan-wook’s “Thirst”, but can’t understand a lick of what they’re saying in the previous trailers? Have no fear, non-Korean speaking movie watchers, here’s the first English trailer (with subtitles) for Park’s “Thirst”, his movie about faith, vampires, and guys and gals who like to drink each other’s blood and, er, suck on each other’s feet apparently. It’s listed as a red band trailer, but to be honest, I don’t see anything overly “red band”-ish about it, although there were a couple of gaping wounds there, so I suppose that counts.

Physical and psychological changes lead to his affair with a wife of his childhood friend who is repressed and tired of her mundane life. The one-time priest falls deeper in despair and depravity.
Park Chan-wook’s “Thirst”, the tale of a priest who turns into a vampire after a failed blood transfusion, opened last April in South Korea, and is headed to the States later this year. Three posters for the movie below, including a look at the banned South Korean one-sheet that has since been, er, “cleaned up” for public consumption.
Sang-hyun, a small town beloved and admired priest who serves devotedly at a hospital, volunteers for the new infectious disease, F.I.V.’s, vaccine development experiment and goes to Africa. The experiment fails and Sang-hyun gets infected by F.I.V. but he ends up being miraculously cured and returns home. News of Sang-hyun’s cure from F.I.V. spreads and people start believing he has the gift of healing and flock to receive his blessing. From those who come to him, Sang-hyun meets a childhood friend named Kang-woo and his wife Tae-ju. Sang-hyun is immediately drawn to Tae-ju. One day, Sang-hyun coughs up blood, dies, and comes back [...]

In “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance” and “Oldboy’ director Chan-wook Park’s latest movie “Thirst”, Kang-ho Song (”The Host”) stars as a priest who is accidentally turned into a vampire during a failed medical experiment. Which, let me tell you, won’t go easy on the doctor’s malpractice insurance. “Good news and bad news, Mrs. Johnson. The good news is that your husband is alive. The bad news is that I accidentally turned him into a vampire. My bad.”
Someone from IMDB describes the film like this:
Beloved and devoted priest from a small town volunteers for a medical experiment which fails and turns him into a vampire. Physical and psychological changes lead to his affair with a wife of his childhood friend who is repressed and tired of her mundane life. The one-time priest falls deeper in despair and depravity. As things turns for worse, he struggles to maintain whats left of his humanity.
So, no guest appearances by Van Helsing and company? [...]

Chan-wook Park’s newest movie, the vampire horror flick “Evil Live” has apparently been retitled “Thirst”. CNN got around to talking to Park in their Talk Asia segment, and the director of “Old Boy” and “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance”, among many, many notable other films, talk a bit about the film, which is about a man who gets the wrong blood transfusion and becomes a vampire as a result; now he’s thirsty for human blood, which is bad enough, but he ends up falling in love with a woman. Man, I hate it when that happens to me, too.
WARNING: CNN actually REVEALS THE ENDING of the movie in the interview! And it’s not like they revealed it late in the interview, either; they revealed it about 90 seconds into this 6-minute interview! Yeah, I know. CNN ain’t the brightest bulb in the bunch, apparently.
They actually spent only the first minute or so on “Thirst”, including some behind-the-scenes stuff, then spent the [...]

South Korean director Park Chan-Wook was apparently having a lot of trouble finding a leading lady for his vampire movie (tentatively titled “Evil Live”), mostly due to the film requiring a healthy amount of sex and nudity from her. Now it appears as if Park has finally found someone willing to strip for her art — “Dasepo Naughty Girls” star Kim Ok-bin, a former model turned actress.
More / via:
The spotlight had been on just who the female star would be. The part involves many adult scenes alongside male heart throb Song Kang-ho, who claimed the main role in the international hit film “The Host.”
“Evil Live” or “Bakjwi” in Korean is a melo-horror film of a human-turned-vampire’s affair with a married woman.
Director Park, known for his award-winning film “Old Boy” and “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance”, says he chose Kim for her unique talents that allow her to assume a vast range of characters.
Shooting for the erotic vampire movie stars in [...]

According to Fangoria, who quotes a Hollywood Reporter article that I’m unable to find, South Korean director Chan-wook Park (”Oldboy”, the “Sympathy” films) will be directing a Korean vampire movie to star Song Kang-ho (”The Host”) as “a priest who becomes transformed into a bloodsucker due to a failed medical experiment, and winds up having an affair with a friend’s wife.” I have no idea how one gets transformed into a vampire via a medical experiment, or why the character ending up having an affair with his friend’s wife is really all that important. Unless, of course, Chan-wook Park plans on doing a really unconventional vampire movie, in which case, sure, I guess.
I found more information about the upcoming movie (originally called “Evil Live”, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside in favor of the Korean title “Bakjwi”) at DreadCentral, who writes:
Park [said] that the film is now called Bakjwi (there is no English title yet), and is [...]
