Big giant robot “camels”? Peter Griffin’s archnemesis the Chicken as Boba Fett? Stewie Griffin as Darth Vadar? Yup, it’s another installment of Family Guy does Star Wars. The sequel to the hit “Blue Harvest” is the lazily titled “Something Something Something Dark Side”, which I guess is pretty much all you need to know about the movie. It’s a feature-length (well, 44-minutes, anyway) parody of “The Empire Strikes Back”, complete with random asides, inside jokes for fans of the show, good old fashion politically incorrect gags, and some very nice, slick animation. 20th Century Fox releases the movie on DVD and Blu-ray December 22, 2009, just in time for the Family Guy fan in your family. Featuring the voices of Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, and Mila Kunis.

When they announced they were spinning off Cleveland Brown of The Family Guy, I wasn’t so sure. Why Cleveland, of all the juicy characters on the show? (As Stewie would say, “What the hell? He’s getting his own show?”) Well, they done spun him off, and the new show will find Cleveland in Virginia with a new wife (as you’ll recall, his previous wife cheated on him with perv neighbor Quagmire) and a new family. Cleveland Jr. is still there, though a lot fatter, and now you have a completely new set of characters. The opening theme is pretty catchy, but the rest of the clips from the snow? Not so much. Judge for yourself.
The Cleveland Show is a new animated series that follows everyone’s favorite soft-spoken neighbor, Cleveland Brown (Mike Henry), to his hometown in Virginia as he settles down with his high school sweetheart, her unruly kids and his own 14-year-old son, Cleveland Jr. (Kevin Michael Richardson).

For all the bitching he does about FOX, Seth MacFarlane, creator of “Family Guy”, “American Dad”, and the upcoming “Cleveland” spin-off, knows a good thing when he sees it, and signing a deal that could potentially reach the nine-figures stratosphere is a very good thing. And just in case you glossed over the previous sentence, we’re talking nine-figures here. As in $000,000,000. CHA-CHING indeed!
Variety has the breakdown of the deal:
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but should MacFarlane’s properties, which also include “American Dad” and upcoming “Family Guy” spinoff “The Cleveland Show,” hit all their financial goals, the value of the pact could ultimately enter the nine-figure range.
Deal not only keeps MacFarlane in place as exec producer of “Family Guy,” “American Dad” and now “The Cleveland Show,” but it also keeps him in place as the key vocal talent on both “Family” and “Dad.” MacFarlane is also set to lend his voice to a neighbor character on “Cleveland.”
Hell, that’s [...]

Family Guy is an infectious show, one of those 10-jokes a clip shows that just keeps firing gag after gag on you, regardless if they make any sense at all. Fans of the show knows that the best parts are those totally non sequitur moments that usually begins with the line, “You remember the time…” BAM! One joke down, 9 to go. And now it looks like Family Guy may be getting a spin-off that will focus on Cleveland Brown.
More:
Fox and 20th Century Fox TV are developing a spinoff from its hit animated series centered on Peter Griffin’s bathtub-accident-prone neighbor, sources said.
The project, tentatively titled “Cleveland,” is being written by “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane, Mike Henry — who voices Cleveland and serves as writer-producer on the series — and “The Simpsons” alum Rich Appel, executive producer/showrunner on MacFarlane’s other animated comedy for Fox, “American Dad.”
Cleveland, who plays off black stereotypes, is the most levelheaded among Griffin’s trio of friends.

Seth MacFarlane’s relationshipo with the FOX network has always been a little, shall we say, contentious. Of course, having a TV show that was canceled by the network, only to be resurrected again when the DVD sales receipts came in didn’t help matters. But after returning to the FOX line-up for a few years now, and enjoying great success (enough to launch a spin-off), Seth MacFarlane and FOX seems to be on good terms — until that blasted writers strike happened. Now MacFarlane is walking the picket line, and FOX is threatening to go ahead and finish up three episodes that were mostly in the can before the strike with or without MacFarlane’s input. Now MacFarlane is steaming and FOX, well, FOX is doing what all the networks are doing — they’re moving right along as if the strike isn’t happening.
More:
However, FOX and the show’s production studio 20th Century Fox TV are apparently doing the final work on this coming [...]

Fox’s “Family Guy” TV show is kind of my guilty pleasure. On the one hand it makes me laugh, but on the other hand I know it’s a really, really stupid show tied together with totally pointless skits (see the recent South Park episode “Cartoon Wars” for more information). But then again, like I said, it DOES make me laugh, so I’m kind of onboard whatever it is show creator/writer (and the voice of Peter) Seth MacFarlane wants to do, including a 1-hour “Star Wars” parody for its upcoming season premiere. It’s interesting that George Lucas himself has given MacFarlane his blessing, since Georgie is usually, well, kinda anal about people making fun of his movies.
In any case, someone was at the recent Star Wars convention and videotaped the 10-minute preview of the Family Guy Star Wars special that was shown there (you gotta love the Bush/Cheney bumper sticker gag).

And here’s a faux poster for the episode:

No doubt the upcoming “Simpsons” movie has got Seth MacFarlane thinking about parlaying his own animated family the Griffins onto feature length movie fame. There was actually a direct-to-DVD movie a few years back (“Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story”), but it was never sold as a big-screen movie, at least I don’t think it was. Says MacFarlane about a possible “Family Guy” movie: “I don’t want to do ‘The Griffins must save the world.” Why not? I’d like to see obese Peter, his hot wife, talking dog Brian, world-dominating-wannabe baby Stewie, and perverted son Chris save the world. And Meg, of course. Don’t forget totally useless Meg.
More (via):
But he emphasized that he has no plot ideas yet, and that Fox studio executives would have to sign off on a film project as well. “Nothing is official,” he said, adding that if all things come together, a movie could be ready in a couple of years.
MacFarlane also said he would like [...]
