I liked Donnie Yen’s latest Hong Kong actioner “Flash Point”, but I didn’t LOVE it. (Read my review of it here) One of my problems with the film is that there isn’t very much in the first and second act, and there is, quite possibly, too much in the final act. But that still doesn’t mean I won’t recommend the film to Hong Kong film lovers. It’s definitely a worthy buy on DVD, for the crime connoisseurs or just people who likes ass-kicking in general. The film has plenty of both to savor, that’s for sure, and Yesasia.com is offering the import DVD for $16.49 when the DVD is released September 28, 2007. Wait, that’s tomorrow, right?
The film comes in two versions, a 2-DVD Special Edition and Limited Edition version. Both seems to have the same features, if Yesasia.com’s listings for them are to be believed.
This 2-DVD Special Edition comes with an exclusive postcard and the following English-subtitled bonus features:

Donnie Yen’s Flash Point Scores Big in China

Mainland China can’t handle Chris Tucker’s big mouth and Jackie Chan’s, um, aging action comedian via “Rush Hour 3″, but they have plenty of room for Donnie Yen and his latest crime actioner, “Flash Point”. The Wilson Yip-directed cops-and-triad flick (wait, I thought China doesn’t like movies about the Triads? Hmm…) took in an impressive $1.98 million in 3 days of release on the Mainland, beating out uber Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou’s directorial debut, the romantic comedy “Secret”.
In “Flash Point”, Donnie Yen plays a cop who takes on a Vietnamese gang using Louis Koo as a mole. Much shooting, fighting, kicking, and bloodletting ensues.
From everything I’ve seen of the film, it looks to be in line with Yen’s previous Hong Kong works, and is one of the more highly anticipated Hong Kong action films of recent years.
No word on an American release yet, but look for the import DVD soon.

AsianPopcorn has your new look at Donnie Yen’s upcoming action-a-second cop thriller “Flash Point”, which co-stars Louis Koo and is directed by Wilson Yip. This includes three posters and a new trailer that features some old footage, but from what I can gather, some new footages as well. What you should get out of the trailer is that this is an action movie, clear and simple. And if it happens to make a little bit of logical sense? Well, that’s just gravy now, isn’t it?
In “Flash Point”, Donnie Yen plays a cop who pursues a Vietnamese gang led by three brothers. Louis Koo plays Yen’s informant, whose career is short-lived when he’s discovered. Much ass kicking and shooting ensues.
The expected release date for the film in Hong Kong is August 3, 2007. Look for it on DVD sometime after that.

Via the boys over at Donnie Yen’s US site (link), here is your look at Donnie Yen’s upcoming “Flash Point”, another hard-hitting action/crime film in the style of “Sha Po Lang” (or better known by its International title of “Killzone”). The film stars Donnie Yen as a cop determined to put a trio of Triad brothers out of business; to achieve this end, he sends in a mole (Louis Koo), but that’s when the fun really starts. If you head over to the movie’s official site here, you’ll get a synopsis that, if I’m not mistaken, reveals about 90% of the movie’s plot (or thereabouts). Basically, everything up until, “This guy dies, that guy dies, and this guy lives” part.
An agent battles against three brothers of a powerful Vietnamese gang.
“Flash Point” stars Donnie Yen, Louis Koo, Collin Chou, and Bingbing Fan, and is directed by Wilson Yip (“Dragon Tiger Gate”), a man who knows when to direct and when [...]
