The last time Mike Myers was actually on movie screens (and not just his voice), he was wearing a furry cat costume in 2003’s “The Cat in the Hat”, and after 5 years of no Mike Myers, you would think there would be more love for the man’s return. Apparently not, as Myers’ “The Love Guru”, his first onscreen movie in 5 years, tanked at the box office in its debut, taking in a measly $14 million from slightly over 3000 theaters, just barely good enough to edge out M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening” to land at #4. The week’s only other debut, the Steve Carrell comedy “Get Smart”, surpassed expectations, wrangling first place away from last week’s champ, “The Incredible Hulk” with a solid $39 million in its first week.
Louis Leterrier’s “The Incredible Hulk”, meanwhile, had a fight with the animated animals of “Kung Fu Panda” for third place, but according to BoxOfficeMojo, it lost (these are studio weekend [...]

I have to admit, if you were to tell me just a year or so ago that movie studios would be giving the masses whole chunks of their movie, uninterrupted, for free online, I would have called you crazy. But they’re doing it. The latest has Warner Bros. and iTunes teaming up to bring you seven free minutes of the Steve Carell-Anne Hathaway big-screen comedy “Get Smart”. Besides Carell and Hathway, the film co-stars Dwayne Johnson, Alan Arkin, and Terrence Stamp.
Bungling secret agent Maxwell Smart, also known as Agent 86 for CONTROL, is on a mission to battle the forces of their evil crime nemesis known as KAOS with his more-competent partner Agent 99, (whose real name is never revealed) at his side. When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreams of working in [...]

We have three new posters for you on this closing Sunday night: one for the Sarah Michelle Gellar supernatural thriller “Possession”, a French poster for the Liam Neeson actioner “Taken”, and two Spanish posters for the upcoming “Get Smart” big screen movie with Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway.
Damn Anne Hathaway looks good in the “Get Smart” poster, and the “Taken” one doesn’t look half bad. The “Possession” poster is way too plain, though.

Here’s another image from the upcoming “Get Smart” big-screen movie with Steve Carrell as Maxwell Smart and Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. I’m not a fan of the old TV show (I can’t even lie and say I’ve seen an episode for more than a few seconds at a clip), but these pictures of Anne Hathaway from the movie sure looks tempting.

Warner Bros. has released two new images from the upcoming Get Smart remake. Okay, so I’ll probably never end up seeing this thing, unless it comes on TV one night while I’m suffering through my usual bouts of insomnia, and I accidentally land on the channel showing it and for some reason can’t find my remote to change the channel. You know, 50-50 chance, or thereabouts.

Starring the funny Steve Carell and the gorgeous Anne Hatheway.

To be perfectly honest with you people, I have almost no interest in the upcoming “Get Smart” big budget movie version of the classic TV series. I never watched the original show, and I’m not a fan of the show’s (and one presumes, the movie’s) gimmick. Plus, Steve Carell (as Maxwell Smart) and Anne Hathaway (as Agent 99) do nothing for me, so there you have it. But hey, it’s not always about what I like and don’t like, and sometimes I have to cater to you people, and I’m guessing there are some out there who are actually looking forward to this. Am I right or am I right? Um, I’m probably wrong, but anyways, the teaser poster for “Get Smart” has arrived. Check it out below.

The best thing I can say about the “Get Smart” remake is that Steve Carell stars in it, and how can you NOT like Steve Carell? He is friggin hilarious, and even if you don’t like the idea of someone else playing Maxwell Smart, you still can’t entirely hate the upcoming “Get Smart” remake. Or can you? Well, I can’t, although that doesn’t mean I’m THAT interested in it. (For me, this is a DVD rental at best; maybe cable.) Now the trailer for “Get Smart” is out (see it below), and you’ll probably either hate it or chuckle a little. It sells its biggest draw: Steve Carrel, and that’s just smart.
The adventures of bumbling secret agent Maxwell Smart, and his level-headed female partner, Agent 99 as they battle against the evil forces of KAOS.
The film stars Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Terence Stamp, Alan Arkin, and is directed by Peter Segal.
CONTROL takes control Summer 2008.
