Two new posters for ya today. The first one is Rachel McAdams taking her turn in the spotlight for Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes”, and the second one is the first poster for “Jonah Hex”, featuring Brolin as Hex and Megan Fox. According to Fox, her role in “Jonah Hex” is little more than a cameo. She may have lied. Either that, or she’s got one hell of an ego to get your name plastered on the poster of the movie when you’re only in it for a glorified cameo.

I thought she might have been playing a fellow bounty hunter of the film’s scarred badass who moonlights as a saloon girl in “Jonah Hex”, but according to Megan Fox herself, she’ll just be a plain ol saloon girl prostitute who happens to pack some heat, and can throw down when required. My guess is that she gets to shoot some rowdy patron in the nuts, cause that would be something Hollywood would think is “liberating” or some such.
Fox told MTV this about her character in “Jonah Hex”:
“They’ve changed her name a couple of times — it’s Leila now,” Fox explained. “She is a prostitute. She’s a good ol’ working girl, and she’s a love-interest to Jonah… of sorts. I mean, it’s by no means a classic type of relationship.”
“She wasn’t really featured in the comics,” Fox said of her character. “Her name was initially Liala, and now they changed it — or it was Layla, and now they changed [...]

Hey, it’s Josh Brolin on the set of “Jonah Hex”, and yup, that’s looking like a mighty gross face he’s sportin’ there. In the upcoming movie by Jimmy Hayward based on the D.C. comic book character, Brolin will star as a scarred bounty hunter in the Wild West who is tracking a voodoo practitioner (John Malkovich) bent on liberating the South by raising an army of the undead. He gets more than able assist from saloon hottie Megan Fox along the way. I guess she likes her boys, er, character-heavy.

Put an “it” girl of the moment in a big comic book movie and all of a sudden we’re getting pictures from the set every day. You don’t get anymore “it” then Megan Fox in 2009, which means photographers are camping out all over her new movie “Jonah Hex”, and they caught the brunette lovely in costume and riding around in a carriage. If you guessed that Megan Fox plays a saloon girl in the movie from these pics, then good for you, you’re the master of the obvious. Although apparently this is some kind of cover, as the film also describes Fox’s character “Leila” as a “gun-wielding beauty”. Granted, saloon girls can wield guns, too, but not usually.
“Jonah Hex” is set in the Wild West, and stars Josh Brolin (”No Country for Old Men”) as a scarred bounty hunter who tracks a voodoo practitioner played by John Malkovich to a small town. Malkovich, being the evil sumbitch he is, [...]

Nice boots, Megan. Here’s your first look at the very foxy Megan Fox on the set of her movie “Jonah Hex”, based on the D.C. comic book Western. In the flick, she’ll be playing a saloon girl name Leila. Okay, I’m guessing her character is a saloon girl, going by the saloon girl-esque clothes Megan’s got underneath that white robe. Or as it’s being called, “lady-gunslinger outfit”. Still looks like a saloon girl outfit to me.
In the Wild West, a scarred bounty hunter tracks a voodoo practitioner bent on liberating the South by raising an army of the undead.
Josh Brolin plays the titular Jonah Hex, the scarred bounty hunter in question. Megan Fox is Leila, his love interest. Jimmy Hayward directs the currently in-production D.C. movie, scheduled for a 2010 release.
Set pics via. Head over there for more.

Comic book geeks don’t need more reasons to have naughty dreams about Megan Fox, but they’ve just gotten it anyway. The “Transformers” star is in negotiations to join the DC comic book Western “Jonah Hex”, and has been announced as the star of the live-action adaptation of the late Michael Turner’s “Fathom” comic books, about a really, really hot woman who swims around in barely-there bikinis. God bless you, Michael Turner.

In “Hex,” Fox will play Leila, a gun-wielding beauty and love interest of Hex (Brolin), a scarred bounty hunter tracking a voodoo practitioner (Malkovich) who wants to raise an army of undead to liberate the South. The movie is preparing for a shoot in April, with Jimmy Hayward directing.

Not only is Marvel Studios releasing “Iron Man 2″ and “Thor” in the same year, but Warner Bros. has just announced that 2010 will also see the release of the long in gestation “Green Lantern” movie (December 17th, 2010), as well as “Jonah Hex” (August 6, 2010) with Josh Brolin. Plus, that other green guy, “Green Hornet”, will also be hitting theaters in 2010. But wait, there’s more!
Besides those five movies, IGN (via) has 2010 also seeing the release of Louis Letterrier’s remake of “Clash of the Titans”, which has been scheduled for March 2010. Plus, remember that Christopher Nolan guy? Well he’s got a new movie called “Inception” that’s also planned for a July 16, 2010 release. And there’s also Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch” (described as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns”) which is headed to theaters [...]

So I guess this means the live-action “Jonah Hex” movie isn’t going the down and dirty route? If it does, then it’s going to be a heck of a directorial job by Jimmy Hayward, who has just been announced by the Brothers Warner as the new helmer of “Hex”. Hayward’s previous credit includes co-directing the animated “Horton Hears a Who” with Steve Martino, and before that, working in Pixar’s animation department on films like “Toy Story”, “A Bug’s Life”, and “Monsters Inc”. Yes, all kiddie CG films. So yeah, considering Hayward’s filmography, it sure doesn’t look like this Jonah Hex is gonna be all that dark, or moody, or gritty. Wonder how they’re going to swing that when the hero has pizza for a face…
THR has more:
The character of Hex, known for having the right side of his face disfigured and wearing a Confederate army uniform, was a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood. [...]

It sure sounds like it. Granted, Josh Brolin is a good actor, and deserves all the accolades he got for “No Country for Old Men”. I haven’t seen “W.”, but from what I’ve seen, he seems to have nailed Dubya. Or at least, the caricature of Dubya that we’ve been spoon fed by the late-night comedians over the years. But are Hollywood suits really dumb enough to think that a suddenly hot actor is capable of making all the decisions on a big-budget movie? Maybe, maybe not. With more maybe than the maybe not, considering that Hollywood is such a star-driven machine, and someone who has become as suddenly desirable as Brolin could, possibly, manage to even get the writers and would-be directors of a movie kicked off the team if he said the right things to the right people.
So what were those right things? It might have been what Brolin told MTV a few days ago about the script [...]

Personally I blame it on his ugly mug, but D.C. gunslinger Jonah Hex sure seems to have a lot of trouble finding people who wants to take a chance on him. First there was the rumor that Josh Brolin was circling the project, although Brolin himself seems mighty unsure of what he wants to do, and now the film’s writers and would-be directors, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor of “Crank” fame, have decided to walk away due to the ever popular “creative differences”, which in Hollywood can mean anything from too many pink peanuts in the trailer to a producer sleeping with your wife. What we do know? This leaves the project with a script, but no director(s).
Pipes in Variety:
Neveldine and Taylor wrote the script, but their exit as directors was attributed to “creative differences.” The studio is moving quickly to set a new director, determined to keep Brolin in the fold for a spring start. Neveldine and Taylor are [...]

According to actor Josh Brolin (”W.”, “No Country for Old Men”), he may or may not be Jonah Hex in the comic book Western of the same name as previously reported. Well, okay, he thinks the character is interesting, and he kinda likes the writer/director team of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, but he just doesn’t know yet, because, apparently, Josh Brolin has a hard time making up his mind about, you know, stuff. Of course, there have never been any official announcements, merely what a movie blog said in October, so I wouldn’t be surprise of Brolin passed on the project. Although it does appear as if he’s seriously considering it. Jonah Hex, or something Tony Scott is doing, apparently.
Collider has the inside dope from Brolin himself during a press junket:
Q: You will be playing a comic book character soon. You’re doing Jonah Hex, right?
Josh: Nope.
Q: You’re not doing Jonah Hex?
Josh: Don’t know yet.

Q: Have you had [...]

Does “Jonah Hex” even qualify as a horror movie? I don’t know, I’ve never read the comics, and the most I’ve ever seen of Hex was briefly during an episode of the animated Justice League TV show, where some superheroes got tossed into the past, and one of them ended up in the Wild West. I think. Previously, word had Thomas Jane trying to nab himself the role, and even going so far as to do a mock-up of what he would look like as Hex. But hey, maybe we can ask Josh Brolin about it, who word has it (and of course by “word” I mean someone with a website says it’s so) has “sealed” the deal to play the disfigured cowboy in a movie based on the D.C. comic book character of the same name.
Hollywood-Elsewhere has your movie casting rumor of the day:
I’m told that the deal is sealed for Josh Brolin to star in Jonah Hex, [...]

You can’t keep a cowboy with a fubarred face down. D.C.’s Jonah Hex, the gunslinger with a pizza for a face, will be heading to the big screen (previous story here), and none other than the boys behind “Crank” and the upcoming “Game” and “Pathology” will be behind the script and cameras. In an interview, writer/directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor lets everyone know that they will be writing and directing the upcoming “Jonah Hex” movie as soon as they finish the sequel to “Crank”.
More:
Collider.com sat down with filmmaker Mark Neveldine, co-writer and co-director (with Brian Taylor) of the upcoming ‘Crank 2′, wo revealed that they will be tackling DC Comics’ ‘Jonah Hex’ as an upcoming project.
“We’re going to be doing a thing at Comic-Con this summer for a lot of movies…one is a movie that we wrote called ‘Jonah Hex’,” Neveldine told Collider in a video interview. “It’s a DC Comic called ‘Jonah Hex’.
Warner Bros. is bringing D.C. Comics’ Jonah Hex to the big screen, with the “Crank” boys Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor set to adapt it from comic to screen, although the Hollywood Reporter doesn’t exactly make it clear if “adapt” means the boys will also direct. I have to admit, I never “got” the whole Jonah Hex deal, which probably explains why I never bothered with the comic books. Jonah Hex was a Confederate flag wearing bounty hunter who had one side of his face terribly disfigured (pictured left), and he plied his trade in the Wild Wild West. Basically, that’s all I know about it, so it’s a good thing Wikipedia is here to save the day:
Jonah Hex is a western comic book anti-hero, created by writer John Albano and artist Tony DeZuniga, and published by DC Comics. The right side of his face is horribly scarred, and he is normally shown wearing a Confederate States Army uniform. Hex [...]
