Let’s face it, if you aren’t jazzed up about seeing James McTeigue’s “Ninja Assassin” on opening day after all the clips and trailers and pics we’ve posted, these four new clips from Warner Bros. isn’t going to change your mind. In which case, you’re probably reading the wrong site, because if you can’t get psyched for a movie like “Ninja Assassin”, you probably should be reading, oh I don’t know, the New York Times’s Style Section or something equally pretentious. Starring Sung Kang, Randall Duk Kim, Ben Miles, Naomie Harris, Rain, and the legendary Sho Kosugi, “Ninja Assassin” opens next week, November 25.

Warner Bros. has released what looks like the final batch of “Ninja Assassin” images from their upcoming November 25th slash’em up actioner. We have added over 30 new images from the movie to our gallery. Check them out below.
Raizo (Rain) is one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them…and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge.
In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) has stumbled upon a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East.
Rick Yune is such an asshole. Or at least, he is in this clip from “Ninja Assassin” (via IGN), where the ninja-clad Rick Yune taunts our hero Rain about someone from their past. It leads to Rain going all bananas and screaming and attacking as things blow up around them. Needless to say, fun is had by all. James McTeigue’s brutal action movie (seriously, the hero is all torn up and shit) opens November 25. Which means you can watch ninjas carve each other up with swords before watching your parents carve up that under cooked turkey at home. Co-starring Sung Kang, Naomie Harris, and the legendary Shô Kosugi.

With the recent surge of Ninjas on celluloid marked by the upcoming releases of Ninja, Ninja Assassin and G.I. Joe (because of Snake Eyes of course…) I felt it was time to take a look back and pick out some of what I deem the best movies featuring the mysterious deadly assassin archetype. Following are my favorite 7 Ninja Flicks of all time (I’m sure there’ll be a bunch of you fanboys that’ll disagree, but I couldn’t care less). Why 7? Why the heck not?

7. Enter the Ninja (1981)This flick is widely regarded as having started the whole 80s ninja craze. If you didn’t see it in its heyday then viewing it now may induce a couple of laughs at best and some groans at worst. Produced by Golan and Globus, Enter the Ninja is certainly something of an anomaly. Parts of it are cool as hell especially in regards to the traditional weaponry and some of the training sequences.
Color me excited. Never in such a period of human history have we been witness to so many movies about ninjas. Okay, there was the ’70s. And the ’80s. And I think they dabbled in quite the bit of ninja-rific action in the ’90s, too. This decade, I mean. Ahem. Here’s the latest TV spot for James McTeigue’s “Ninja Assassin”, a film that, despite the movie’s cartoony premise, looks like it has the potential to be the most brutal action flick in a while. Fans of ninja brutality might also want to check out 1995’s “The Hunted”. The train scene alone is worth the price of admission.
“Ninja Assassin” stars Rain, Naomie Harris, Randall Duk Kim, Sung Kang, Rick Yune, Ben Miles, Shô Kosugi, and Togo Igawa. Directed by James McTeigue.
The ninjas are coming November 25, 2009.

You know, back in the day, ninja assassins did everything they could to stay hidden and out of the public eye. That’s, like, part of their job description, right? Apparently not so much in the new movie “Ninja Assassin” from the brothers Wachowski and directed by James McTeigue (”V For Vendetta”). Here, black-clad, hooded ninjas apparently don’t have any issues with running down a busy street chasing their victim. Okay, so maybe they really, really, really want/need/have a major hard-on to kill our hero, but come on, it’s in the middle of a busy street and you’re all running around in pajamas and carrying swords! Way to stay unnoticed and invisible, chumps.
Anyhoo. Check out this street chase clip from MTV. If nothing else, at least the clip looks pretty damn brutal and bloody, two things I love in my ninja assassin movies.

Among them were a lot of junk we could care less about, but there were a couple of goodies, including a new pic from “Ninja Assassin”, showing off its ninja, and er, assassin; a gun shows up in “The Box”; a pedestrian pic from “Sherlock Holmes” that is pretty, well, not exciting; and two more looks at “Jennifer’s Body”, including one of Jennifer’s body, which is only fair given the title.
A new batch of images today, two from Kate Beckinsale’s thriller “Whiteout”, based on the comic book of the same name, and two for “Ninja Assassin”, starring South Korean pop star Rain. From the looks of the images, “Ninja Assassin” seems to be a pretty brutal flick, judging by all the wounds the leading man is sporting here. “Whiteout”, on the other hand, eh, I still think will hit theaters and disappear just as quickly with nary a whimper. Looks more like a direct-to-DVD movie, to be honest with you.

If you need to break into a market, there are worst ways to do it than riding on the coattails of the Wachowskis. Granted, their “Speed Racer” didn’t exactly go over well. Okay, so it stunk up the joint, then came back and threw feces on the curtains just for spite, but that doesn’t mean “Ninja Assassin” can’t be one very cool action movie. Check out the very first trailer for it below.

If Rain, the star of James McTeigue’s modern-day ninja movie was actually falling in the poster, while it’s raining. Then my headline of, “Rain Falls in Ninja Assassin Teaser Poster” would be double — nay, triple! — clever. Still cool, though, but it would be cooler if he was falling, too. Sigh. What could have been…

What’s the deal with that, WB? I guess having a major Hollywood movie shoot in your backyard gives you some privileges. Anyways, here’s a Reuters video of a quick behind-the-scenes video look at the making of the Wachowski Brothers’ latest, “Ninja Assassin”, starring South Korean pop guy Rain as a badass ninja who betrays his clan and falls for a Western chick who works for Interpol. Not necessarily in that order.
In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) has stumbled upon a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East.
The boys at Warner Bros. have been sending out the latest images from their upcoming “Ninja Assassin”, including one new pic, and one better looking pic of a very bloody Rain, ninja swords in hand, post-bloody ass kicking, that surfaced last week in Entertainment Weekly. The new pic from the movie is of Naomie Harris, playing an Interpol agent in the film, in action. Well, if you consider her running around with some heavily armed dudes as “action”, which I happen to. My definition of action is very stretchable.
“Ninja Assassin” stars South Korean pop star Rain, recently in “Speed Racer”, as a ninja who breaks rank, flees, and is pursued by his handlers. Legendary martial artist Sho Kosugi plays the head of the ninja clan, and Naomie Harris plays one of the Interpol agents who gets into the mix. She better be wearing the kind of armor that can stop swords, that’s all I’m sayin’.

The issue also has another look at the Wachowski Brothers’ upcoming “Ninja Assassin” with South Korean pop singer Rain in the leading role. Here’s the pic — Yup, it looks like it’s raining blood. On rain. At least I think that’s Rain. Hard to tell with all the, you know, blood. But since it’s one of the first official pics from the film, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the powers that be will want to showcase their leading man instead of some extra.

I was already kind of interested in the Wachowskis’ next movie, “Ninja Assassin”, but now I’m really excited. Why? One word: Sho Kosugi is back! Back where, you ask? In “Ninja Assassin”, of course. Also, I should probably stop calling “Ninja Assassin” a movie by the Wachowski Brothers, since although they’re producing, they didn’t write it, despite previous reports that said otherwise. Instead, in this official release by Warner Bros. on the film (which has begun shooting in Berlin, Germany), the script credits goes to Matthew Sand and Babylon 5 mastermind J. Michael Straczynski, with the Wachowskis and Joel Silver producing. In any case, head on below to find out what it’s all about.
From Warner Bros. Pictures, via Comingsoon:
Ninja Assassin follows Raizo (Rain), one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But [...]

Hey, it’s not easy being a world-famous pop singer turned Hollywood movie star. Just as Rain, who recently made his big-screen Hollywood debut in the Wachowski’ “Speed Racer” movie. Sure, the film may be headed toward those points of cinematic disasters only reserved for films with names like “Ishtar” and “Heaven’s Gate”, but it’s not like it was Rain’s fault. Rain’s latest is “Ninja Assassin”, also with the Wachowskis, and as you can see from these pics that he’s released online, Rain is ready to kick some serious ass there, boys.
About the training (because I know you guys care) from Coolsmurf (via):
For his role in “Ninja Assassin”, Rain specially hired trainers that trained the cast in “300″ to beef up his body. He went through more than 10 hours of intense training and strict diet each day just to sculpt his body as seen in the pictures.
Rain had revealed in an interview when he was back in Korea recently to [...]

Variety has an article about how the Wachowski brothers’ “Ninja Assassin” (they wrote the script and are producing, with James McTeigue (”V for Vendetta”) directing) is getting additional funding from the German Film Fund, but what’s interesting is that the article also mentions that the film is currently shooting in Germany. According to the article, the movie is “currently shooting at Studio Babelsberg near Berlin.”
More:
Last year, the Federal Film Fund helped bankroll 99 international and domestic films, including the Wachowskis’ “Speed Racer,” which received $14 million — the biggest allotment given to any film in 2007.
Warner Bros.’ “Ninja Assassin” has already received $1 million from regional subsidy org Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, which also backed the studio’s 2005 thriller “V for Vendetta,” a Silver and Wachowski production directed by McTeigue.
I didn’t even know the Germans went around investing in foreign movies. Go figure. I thought the biggest thing they ever did was try to survive the might of Uwe Boll, and doing [...]

I used to believe that the Wachowski brothers’ “Ninja Assassin” movie was in fact a live-action version of the Japanese anime “Ninja Scroll”, except they just somehow think replacing the word “Scroll” with “Assassin” just sounded cooler. And indeed, yeah, I guess it does sound a little cooler. At least if you’re the Wachowski brothers. In any case, the bros have added three more names to their cast, which already includes South Korean singer Rain as the lead and Chinese actor Collin Chou from the “Matrix” films.
The new faces include Rick Yune (pictured, above), better known as the Asian Oddjob from the Bond movie “Die Another Day”, as the movie’s antagonist; Brit Naomie Harris (pictured below, “28 Days Later”) as the female lead; and Ben Miles, another Brit who was also in “V for Vendetta”, which was directed by James McTeigue, who will also be directing “Ninja Assassin” for the Wachowskis. The boys themselves will function as writers and producers.

Collin Chou sure didn’t wait anytime expanding on his upcoming project with the Wachowski brothers. After this article with MTV where he mentioned the project, but not much about it, he told Sci Fi Wire even more — namely that yes, this will be the ninja movie the Wachowski is currently working on with Korean singer/actor Rain (currently going under the working title “Ninja Assassin”, although I have speculated that it is in fact a live-action version of “Ninja Scroll”), and that it will have four main characters, of which Chou will play one, and Rain another. That leaves, of course, two still uncast roles.
More:
“I don’t think I’m supposed to talk about it, but I am working with the Wachowski brothers next month, and I look forward to working with them again on a major movie,” Chou said in an interview at the Wizard World convention in Los Angeles over the weekend. “It will be in Berlin.” As for the [...]

Collin Chou has done a buttload of Hong Kong martial arts movies in his native Asia, but he’s probably most well-known (if he’s known at all) to Western fans as the guy who the Wachowskis got to play the Jet Li part that Jet Li turned down in the two final “Matrix” movies. But according to Chou, the Wachowskis are now planning a “top-secret” movie that they are writing for him to star. What could it be? Does this have anything to do with the ninja movie that the Wachowskis are doing with Korean actor Rain? So many questions, so few answers.
More:
Taiwanese action star Collin Chou, best known in the U.S. for playing Seraph in “Matrix Revolutions” and “Matrix “Reloaded,” revealed to MTV News that he has signed on to a top-secret project the trippy filmmakers hope to begin after “Speed Racer.”
The high-kicking Chou will soon be seen opposite Jackie Chan and Jet Li, appearing as the villainous Jade War [...]
