A gaggle of new movie promos added to their respective movie galleries in the last few weeks that we didn’t see fit to tell you about until now. Why? Because that’s just how we roll. The newbies include: more of Marky Mark noir posing in “Max Payne”, Jennifer Carpenter’s horror remake aka zombies in an apartment complex movie “Quarantine”, George Bush being all George Bushy in Oliver Stone’s “W.”, early promos from the Notorious B.I.G. biopic “Notorious”, more from Russell Crowe and Leo in “Body of Lies”, some more looks at Daniel Craig’s “other” big movie of 2008 “Defiance”, and just in case you haven’t gotten enough eyefuls of “Eagle Eye” yet, there are more pics in that movie gallery, too.

I believe this is our very first look at an image from Sam Raimi’s upcoming “Drag Me to Hell”, his return to small-budget horror moviemaking (how small? I don’t know; but let’s face it, after the gazillion dollars of the “Spider-Man” film, he could make a movie for $50 million and it would still qualify as “low-budget”). It’s also our first looks at David Goyer’s “The Unborn”, with Gary Oldman and the hot girl from “Cloverfield”, as well as “Quarantine”, the zombie movie remake of the Spanish zombie movie called “REC”, which is already gearing up a sequel.
Raimi (Spider-Man) returns to his horror roots (The Evil Dead). Lohman (White Oleander) plays a loan officer who won’t give one to an old lady (Raver) and gets hexed for her heartlessness. ”She makes one bad choice, then she spends the next 80 minutes overpaying for it,” Raimi says.
Starring Alison Lohman, Justin Long, and Jessica Lucas.

The new horror movie “Quarantine” is a remake of the Spanish horror movie “Rec”, which was just released in 2008. Yes, there was an American remake in production before the original was even released, which must be some kind of record. In any case, I have seen a little bit of the original, and from the newly released trailer for “Quarantine”, it looks very much like they followed the original pretty closely, right down to the reporter and zombie-fied residents of the apartment. Check the trailer out below.
Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. [...]

Plot: Television reporter Angela Vidal (Carpenter) and her cameraman (Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew’s videotape.
Starring: Johnathon Schaech, Jennifer Carpenter, Columbus Short, Marin Hinkle, Jay Hernandez, Joey King, Rade Serbedzija, Steve [...]

Yay, it’s another horror movie remake by Hollywood of a foreign movie! At least this time they’re leaving Asia alone, and raiding the Spanish film industry. The latest victim is the Jaume Balagueró-directed Spanish horror film “Rec”, which was itself just made in 2007, making this, quite possibly, the earliest time frame for a remake since, well, ever. The remake, to be called “Quarantined” (I guess “Rec” was too “foreign”) will be directed by John Erick Dowdle and has already roped in three castmembers: Jay Hernandez, Jennifer Carpenter and Columbus Short. They join a cast that already includes Johnathon Schaech and Steve Harris. Dowdle’s only previous directing credit is “The Poughkeepsie Tapes”.
I’m not sure about the plot of the Spanish version, but the American version will follow a reporter and a cameraman as they, and others, are trapped inside an apartment building after a deadly strain of rabies breaks out in the city of Los Angeles. Or as I like [...]
