Remember the rush to snatch up every Frank Miller comic book post-”Sin City” and “300″? Well that was before “The Spirit” and Frank toss a big ol stinky one at the box office. Since then, the Miller Gold Rush has lessened noticeably, but it won’t take much to get it back up and running again. A “Sin City 2″ or a “300″ sequel will just about do it, and then you’ll see another rush to get Frank’s books into production. Having said that, what’s up with “Ronin”, Frank Miller’s tale of a Japanese samurai reincarnated in futuristic New York? Director Sylvain White (left), who has been attached to the film adaptation for some time, says it’s still chugging along.
The “Losers” director tells SuperheroHype:
“I’m taking my time with it. If I’m able to stay on it and develop it the way I want, I just want it to be done right. I don’t want to rush it or anything like that. [...]

I don’t know why it’s taken this long for Warner Bros. to get off their ass and hire a writer to adapt Frank Miller’s “Ronin” to the big screen. You would think with all the buzz around Miller’s works, they would be fast-tracking this sucker. After all, hasn’t it been ages since we learned that Sylvain White (“Stomp the Yard”) had been hired to direct this thing? Anyways, the man with the golden pen is Joby Harold, writer and director of the recent thriller “Awake”, which starred Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen.
More:
“Ronin,” which Miller wrote and drew in the early 1980s, centers on a masterless samurai who is reincarnated in a dystopic near-future New York populated by squatters, factions and mutants. The ronin must try to destroy a demon with a mystic sword, which also is found in New York.
Then again, maybe we shouldn’t be so hasty to put this thing into production, especially since, er, the dude who [...]

You know, I’m still not sure about the Powers That Be handing the reins for the movie version of Frank Miller’s “Ronin” over to the guy who directed “Stomp the Yard” and the second sequel in the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” horror franchise, titled “I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer”, which doesn’t even make any sense at all, even from a creative wordplay point of view. But anyways, to give White his due, he was the director on those movies, and he certainly made them better, or at least more bearable, than they might otherwise have been without his skills behind the camera. White’s latest is the movie adaptation of Miller’s “Ronin”.
Miller wrote and drew the original six-issue limited series (what’s now referred to, rather lamely, as “graphic novels” by the mainstream folks) in the ’80s, just before re-inventing the comic book with “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns” limited series about an aging Batman who [...]
