My guess is that you can forget about a scene where Will Smith shouts out the line, “Now that’s what I’m talking about!” happening in his new movie “Seven Pounds”. For one, this has “This is Will Smith, the serious actor, so give the man an Oscar already!” written all over it. Mind you, Smith has proven that he can do serious pretty well, with “Ali” and “The Pursuit of Happyness”. And being that “Happyness” has been Smith’s most dramatically acclaimed role to date, it was the smart choice for the Smithster to re-team with the film’s director, Gabriele Muccino, for the drama “Seven Pounds”. Here are more images from that upcoming movie.

When he meets Emily (Rosario Dawson), a beautiful woman with a heart condition, he falls in love with her, thereby complicating [...]

Will Smith’s latest stab at Oscar glory — er, I mean, Will Smith’s latest inspiration movie, “Seven Pounds”, has received a Will Smith-tastic poster. What can we learn from this poster for “Seven Pounds”? Well, it stars Will Smith, and Will Smith does stuff in the movie. Or maybe he doesn’t. Plus, Will Smith is bigger than the movie, because not only does Will Smith’s name come before the title of the movie, it’s the same size as the font for the movie title. Basically, if you like Will Smith, you’ll like “Seven Pounds”. Why? Because Will Smith is in it, silly, haven’t you been paying attention?

Talk about Hollywood fiction! In “Seven Pounds”, Will Smith plays an IRS agent who decides to go around helping people. He chooses seven people to be the recipient of his generosity, and goes about trying to decide if they deserve his life-changing help. Meanwhile, in the real world, the IRS tries to take away all your money and give it to your neighbor, whose idea of “getting a job” is sitting on his ass all day watching The Price is Right on TV. See the difference between Hollywood fiction and the real world? But I digress. Here’s the trailer for Will Smith’s latest stab at winning an Oscar (and he’s even re-teamed with the guy who directed “The Pursuit of Happyness”, his last stab at Oscar glory to boot!) “Seven Pounds”.

Will Smith as a suicidal IRS agent in a movie directed by Gabriele Muccino, who also directed him in “The Pursuit of Happyness”? This is just too weird not to be good — or a comedy. This Hollywood Reporter calls it a drama, but come on, how could a movie with the description “suicidal IRS agent” not be a comedy?
More:
The story by Grant Nieporte follows a suicidal IRS agent (Smith) who sets out to make amends by assuming the identity of his younger brother. His plans get complicated when he inadvertently falls in love. Rosario Dawson and Woody Harrelson are in the cast as well.
The film’s IMDB.com description is even stranger:
The emotional story of a man who will change the lives of seven strangers.
Okay, that sounds nothing like the THR description. Oh well.
Michael Ealy (”Sleeper Cell”) has also joined the cast as Smith’s younger brother. Will Smith is coming off the mega hit (albeit undeservedly, in my opinion) “I am [...]
