How could “Shutter” possibly fail? It’s got an attractive young cast, a horror veteran behind the camera, and the kind of storyline that has done good business in the past few years with the “Grudge” movies. Then again, how much appetite does America still have for derivative Asian horror remakes? We shall see. Meanwhile, more images from the movie below.
A newly married couple discovers disturbing, ghostly images in photographs they develop after a tragic accident. Fearing the manifestations may be connected, they investigate and learn that some mysteries are better left unsolved.
Starring Rachel Taylor, Joshua Jackson, David Denman, James Kyson Lee, Maya Hazen, and directed by Masayuki Ochiai.
Smile at Death March 21, 2008.

The “Shutter” remake gets a poster (thumbnail to your left, bigger version below) and it looks suitably horror movie esque. Not exactly the stuff of legends, but eh, it is what it is. Starring Joshua Jackson, Rachael Taylor, and James Kyson Lee from TV’s Heroes.
In Tokyo, a young couple (Jackson and Taylor) on their honeymoon first begin to see ghostly images in their photos …
The ghosties attack March 21st, 2008.

Starring Joshua Jackson and Rachael Taylor, the upcoming horror movie “Shutter” is a remake of a 2004 Thai horror movie of the same name by Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom, and concerns a couple who, after a hit-and-run car accident, discovers ghostly visions in their photographs. See, this reinforces my belief that photography is the device of the Devil.
Anyhoo. The movie hits theaters March 21st, 2008, and MTV has your first look at the trailer.
By the way, what is the deal with Westerners getting into ghost troubles in Japan? I’m vacationing in Mexico next time…

2008’s “Shutter” is a horror movie remake of the 2004 Thai horror movie of the same name (read our review here). I wasn’t a big fan of the original, as it was a run-of-the-mill, by-the-numbers Asian horror film that did exactly as I expected and little else. Which is to say, it had no ambition other than to cash in on the Asian horror faze of a few years ago, which I suppose it succeeded at.
And so, what’s to get all excited about a remake of a lackluster original? Eh, who knows. The guys over at Bloody-Disgusting have scored your first look at the remake.
In the film a newly married couple discovers disturbing, ghostly images in photographs they develop after a tragic accident. Fearing the manifestations may be connected, they investigate and learn that some mysteries are better left unsolved. Read on for the pics and cross your fingers that this is as good as the original.
